  2. Wow, I choose major surgery time to pop back in! I hope you are both doing well, being looked after, taking one day at a time . I just posted on the histamine thinger elsewhere (OK, OK, I can't remember which thread I put it in) but it looks like I should have come straight here. All good this side of the pond, can't believe I am still a working...
  3. Hi not been around for a while, and wondered if you had any ideas on this. I am NCGI, gluten-free for 18 months, and all going pretty well. I need to lose some pounds, and have started back on a paleo Whole30 type diet. I did this successfully for about 6 months previously, but let the old gluten-free junk food creep back in and put back 20 of the...
  4. Hello again Had a lovely dinner of homemade fishcakes, beans and fries. Been away a while, unexpected new job :-). Gone from thinking I would never work again with this delightful condition doing its thing, but now the diet is sorted I am full time. Work good, just catching up with the rest of life, including my celiac lovelies Mindwarp
  5. I am not sure what a silly birthday is, but I am up for celebrating anything which involves cake
  6. Thanks Addy Maybe you have a convert
  7. Late to this party, just had my shoulder length hair lopped off, chin length one side ear length the other. Has anyone had success with shorter hair?
  8. We got away with losing a fence panel. My it was windy though. Thoughts with those flooded and without electricity, and those suspected washed into sea. Not a perfect day here, bye Lou x
  9. OK, so we might be in for hurricanes in the UK Sunday or Monday. Is there a phlippppover ? I had a quick look and not spotted anyone. Someone hiding?? Dancing GOOD
  10. I found I have an intolerance to coffee, tea, cola etc. Nothing to do with gluten, in fact I found out about the coffee thing long before I knew about gluten as an issue. Just a thought for another explanation.
  11. I like big flat mushrooms grilled for that kind of thing. Or done in foil on a bbq
  12. OK, time for favorite jokes then. What do you call a fish with no eyes?
  13. Do you get sick when you eat gluten? Sadly that may be as much as you get in the way of answers. Check out exactly what other information you could get from tests by all means, but remember genes only show a predisposition anyway. I tell people I have a massive gluten intolerance like celiac disease. It may not be completely accurate, but people seem...
  14. Hey ski fantastic to have you back. It is a mighty long way to send a search party but it was getting pretty close there.
  15. Nice to know I caused maximum confusion, eek.... So we have managed to lure you back from the book then
  16. Sorry you are having such a rough time. For what it's worth, a number of us have multiple intolerances and have had a tough time finding safe foods. I am ncgi but have had many of the same symptoms as diagnosed celiacs. A food diary may help you see any patterns over time, write down everything you eat in one column and symptoms in another Plain foods...
  17. I made a pork and leek stew last night so it is l'eft oevres for me tonight. Just as well, been getting kids back to school this week and I am exhausted! Whole30 going well, as long as I remember to eat more protein than seems reasonable. Ski, thinking of you every day and send healing dust for body mind and soul your way x
  18. Wheat bran is not safe for celiacs, simple.
  19. Great you got your answers, I have a feeling you are going to be one of the fighters who gets on with it. I swear it is attitude as well as cracking the food thing that makes a difference to recovery. Which is not to say we won't be here for the odd rant and outburst when the whole thing drives you nuts.... I found any fruit hard at first, while healing...
  20. Hey love2 ooh, remember to take some nice pictures in that amazing restaurant this time, I recall you mentioned the scenery was very good (European compound recruits?) I ate out for the first time in a year tonight, chicken and fries, all supposed.to fine for celiac dedicated fryer etc. so fingers.crossed tonight.....
  21. Thanks Peter, I feel I have been initiated as a moderator now I managed a huge, very public goof :-) Cute kitties though...
  22. Brain fog, depression, stress, anxiety all gone gluten-free In fact, the first sign I get when I accidentally eat gluten is a feeling of hopelessness and dropping into depression. Even though I now now it will pass in a couple of days I feel I will never cope again. It is very real, plenty of folks here will agree. I found celiac UK a bit helpful...
  23. I am in the UK too, and have struggled to find up to date information here. This site has helped tremendously, especially about the mental side of things. VeggieGal's comments are really helpful. It is great that good research is happening, my experience is that GPs are very mixed in their level of knowledge. I am sorry to hear about what a difficult...
