  1. I can identify with you. I have had rashes my entire life & did not know the cause. Due to research I went gluten free almost 3 years ago.I should also include that I am 60 and I have had many years to accumulate this under my skin without anyone being wise enough to realize what the problem was. I still have DH rash but I have seen improvement thru...
  2. All of these various descriptions sound familiar to my skin conditions. I have not had a positive diagnosis of DH, but I know that is what I have based on all my research. I get the watery filled blisters, the hive like eruptions, and the hard lumps under the skin which are very painful. All of the m take a long time to heal. Most of my eruptions eventually...
  3. I also have had a bad time with my skin as the heat & humidity has soared. I have been gluten free for 2 1/2 years & my skin still erupts. Often I cannot pin point the source. I recently attended a wedding reception & was assured my food was gluten free which was probably true, but it was prepared in the same kitchen & with the same utensils...
  4. They bake ok with no flour added?
  5. I have been gluten free for 2 1/2 years. I still have DH outbreaks but they are not as severe as they used to be. I am very sensitive to iodine. It will cause an outbreak within hours. I used to break out all over but now it seems to be confined to my arms and across my shoulders and back and on my buttocks but in a much smaller area than it used to. I...
  6. I thought it was just me. I have had all the various gluten free chex cereals and I too have reacted to the cinnamon version. I tried it more than once and I always get a reaction. My 1st clue is that my lips swell to twice their size and itch terribly. I also don't know if it is the cinnamon itself or something else. I haven't been brave enuf to try...
  7. It was interesting to me to hear that someone else has the same issues with bandaids. In the past I would cover dhareas so I couldn't scratch the. As I removed the bandaid I would have the covered area now inflamed. I made my situation worse. My arms seemed to be the most sensitive. I only used bandaids on my legs & arms. Back & buttocks are...
  8. I don't know if you are familiar with this product. I grew up on a dairy farm & the product I have found most useful is called Bag Balm. It was used to treat cows udders from harsh winter weather. It comes in a green can, 10 oz. On the label is printed Dairy Association Co, Inc,Lyndonville,VT 05851. In the midwest it is readily available at stores...
  9. When you are able to post those pics it would be very useful to the rest of us. I am also a new member & have found this to be the best source of info. I have been gluten free for 2 years and in that time I have never had skin that wasn't broken out with lesions in varying stages.. They are not as bad as they used to be however.
  10. I am not officially diagnosed with DH but after 2 years of research I know that is what i have. There are only 2 places on my body that have never had breakouts. They are the palms of my hands and the soles of my feet.
  11. For most of us with DH we have not been able to find satisfactory dermatologists who understand our condition. i have been researching sites for 2 years and this is by far the best place to go to to get info & advice. From people who share the same issues & can't find answers anyplace else. People who do not have this condition do not understand...
  12. Mine is sooo! much worse at nite. I keep my bedroom temp cool, sleep with only a sheet for cover, and always have my feet uncovered. I try not to scratch but sometimes I can't stop from scratching & then it gets worse.
  13. I commend you on not scratching them. At times I have to. I have some breakouts which are totally inflamed and raised as in a hive that are at least a quarter in size. They have tended to get smaller thru time but every now & then I get a really big eruption that is also more tender and much harder under the surface of my skin. They are usually much...
  14. This Dec I will have been gluten free for 2 years. Also within the last year I have avoided iodine as much as possible. That is a big trigger for me. I had no idea my DH would be so persistent. At first it seemed to improve, but the longer I was gluten free I seemed to react even more strongly to the least bit of gluten. It used to take days to get a...
  15. Ihave never posted any info before, but here goes. I have been plagued with skin conditions since I was a child. Have seen many doctors, given many ointments, prednisone doses, taken allergy shots for over half my life. No success. I am 60 yrs old, and almost 2 years ago while talking to a colleague who went many years before being diagnosed with celiac...
