  1. Any advice regarding vaccinations... Celiac UK recommends vaccinations for flu, meningitis and a few others! I'm not a great fan of injecting myself with foreign rubbish but I have had a lot of colds/infections this year... Apparently vaccinations are imperative if your hyposplenic. How would you know if your hyposplenic?!! Any thoughts on vaccinations...
  2. I am intolerant to corn also. It's a nightmare. I eat only whole foods now so not so hard to avoid doing this.... I want to reintroduce but don't know where to start!!
  3. Well what an interesting thread for me! Thanks ladies! I can't believe the symptoms of internal shaking you describe. It's just like that. I also for a time thought it could be sugar related... But worked it for myself eventually that it couldn't be sugar. After my diagnosis I kind of put it down to adrenal fatigue. I thought that my cortisol was probably...
  4. Omg. Sorry. I just had to chime in here. You are the first person EVER I have heard of to mention internal shaking! I had it for years, especially when tired or waking up from sleep. I thought it was just me. It's gone now as I have been gluten-free for nearly a year (my god, that's been a long year).... I had no idea it could be vitamin related... And I...
  5. Thanks w8in4dave!!! I know rice cakes aren't good for you, but that's the only processed I eat!! I have green juice for breakfast, fruit, avocado for lunch, and a main dinner of veg,rice/quinoa/potato eggs or something like that! Occasional red wine! I do taekwondo 2 times per week and run 5km!! I think I need to cut calories ouch... !!!!
  6. I feel ok mostly. I have days of 'heart awareness' and days when I forget completely. Hopefully it will just be a phase? I seem to have gone through SO many things after diagnosis that have been a phase! Sometimes I wonder if I'm losing the plot!!! 8-)
  7. Just posting an update for info purposes Wore a holter device for 7 days. Showed ectopic multi form ventriculars, and couplets. Apparently nothing to get too excited about. I have been assured that it is not celiac related (I am sure that there is little research on the matter therefore do not hold much credence to that opinion!)... And I have been told...
  8. Well, I eat no processed except rice cakes. I have gained a massive 18lbs in 9 months. I'm gutted. I eat healthy, but obviously I am eating too much? Being vegetarian and intolerant to many things I worry about getting some of my vitamins (according to my nutrition app I fall short on vit d, b12, calcium, selenium, zinc and a few others).... What should I...
  9. Thats interesing... My cardiologist thinks its not related to celiac but I wonder how so many years of malabsoption cannot affect other parts of the body?? we all know that celiac disease messes with hormones... heart rhythms are also affected by thyroid and adrenal so... my guess is that its all connected... Mainstream consultants are just NOT interested...
  10. Interesting stuff, thanks everyone for sharing... Irish... what symptoms do you get with histamine intolerance??? Just wondering? Is it GI?
  11. Lol, I agree with your wise granny!! She's right! It's good to hear so many celiacs eating shrooms with no probs, it's unfortunate that they can't grow all of them on logs. I wish I has the time to grow my fruit & veg, I love fresh garden produce! Maybe one day when I live in Spain again hey?! thanks for your response, blighty hugs!
  12. Great links again thank you bloody grains though eh? Can't get away from them! I must say I have no idea if I react to gluten free products as u don't eat them. I know I react badly to corn, so avoid that also. I generally only eat whole foods except for rice cakes and occasional potato chips. And red wine! That's it tho. Just a last question... Could it...
  13. Thanks for that! Yes, I think you're right... And I'm glad, I love shrooms... Must admit they gave me lots of gas!! Not sure if that's normal but I'm willing to give it another go! Gonna buy myself a mushroom brush
  14. Oh no, sorry to here that. I don't know what pre diabetes really means though I'm sure it's as it sounds. Fingers crossed for you... Are you actually celiac or just your mum?
  15. Thanks everyone... I wonder just how many mushroom farms do use gluten grains? Anyway. I ate about 6-7 button cooked shrooms tonight on my salad... They were so tasty, cooked with garlic! Delish! Am waiting to see what happens to my gut. So far... So good. Keeping it crossed. I'd like to keep them in my diet. Must admit though I do worry about being contaminated...
  16. Great link thanks!! Very interesting... Will go into it properly as I only had time for a quick scan... Though must admit I didn't read anything mentioning gluten grains for growing in any of it... Might have missed it though! Thanks for your help.
  17. thats interesting, thanks... Just wondered, what kind of issues do you experience with them? Does it feel like a glutening?
  18. Thanks Irish as always. I'm passing this all on to my friend tomo... It's strange, the longer I go in with this disease the more people I hear of having it... Or at least someone who knows someone who has celiac... I often wonder if they have the stats wrong and it's more than 1in 100!!
  19. Hey bartful, thanks gonna look now!
  20. Ok... Just read this... Open Original Shared Link Anyone know if this is for real??!! Really? Grown on rye and wheat? I haven't had many mushrooms as my diet has been so limited because of allergies.. But I was just about to re introduce this weekend! The idea of consuming ANY gluten puts me off completely, I'm gutted, I was so excited about eating...
  21. Trusted friends...! I'm posting for a friend who has a child of 6 years recently diagnosed with diabetes type 1. She knows of the link between celiac and diabetes, but I'm finding it hard to find any info online for her... She desperately wants to look at every possibility to keep him healthy, and he has recently displayed some celiac type symptoms. The...
  22. Yeah, dunno what to do with my hair. I stupidly decided to go blonder (I have been dying dark like my natural colour for ages, except now i dye as I need to cover the grey!) but it has damaged my once nice glossy hair... So I have had heaps of breakage from the bleach, NOT what I wanted ... along with terrible hairloss, I now have crap brittle hair that breaks...
  23. Thank you! I think I may need to get some more protein in...I'm vegetarian... (cant have seeds, nuts, lentils peas due to my son allergies)... Might try fish soon... After my 1 year endo though... I want to know how healed I am....
  24. Thanks Irish Heart, thats a comfort to be honest, I have put on about 20lbs...Ugh! I know it's the potato chips! Ha! It's hard as my diet is sooo very limited as I suffer from odd reactions to foods since being gluten free (not GI reactions, more asthmatic and hives)... so i have a 'safe' list. And i do sometimes abuse the crisps!! Apart from that, my diet...
  25. Thank you! You know my vit d levels were awful at diagnosis, I was 40 (range 75-150)... my last test showed them to be at 71, about 3 months ago... so I know they are getting better, but i think I might just supplement occasionally too (I live in the UK, even our summers are rubbish!!)... I exercise 3 times per week, one 5km run and 2 taekwondo sessions...
