ARCHIVED I'm Getting Fat
designerstubble posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My trusted friends! I'm getting fat! Ok, I eat very basic food, fruit and veg, rice, an egg every 2/3 days...no dairy except butter... My downfalls are handmade crisps and the odd glass of wine at weekends...Otherwise I'm very pure!! So, since being off gluten I have gained a whopping 17pounds? How why! My thyroid tested ok (big lab ranges here in uk... -

Just saw your post, thought I'd respond as I became intolerant to corn and corn products at about 2 months gluten-free. Watery poo too! Disappeared as soon as I cut the corn! I now only eat whole foods as most of the corn I ate was in the gluten-free alternatives, which IMHO are just full of rubbish mostly. Keep an eye out for other intolerances, food diary... -

ARCHIVED Help With Results...ttg & Thyroid
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Just a thought... If I look to be hypothyroid (think I am slightly) should I wait for a few months to see if things settle? I know that my results have fluctuated in the last 8 months quite alot. I'd obviously like to wait a while, unless I am putting myself at risk?? -

Yeah, I know, I mustn't be too hard on him I guess. It's just that I am expected to be 'normal' every day... Everything since going gluten-free, like my hives to eggs, my hair falling out, aches and pains, a-fib and palps, i get the standard "stop worrying about it, you're fine" or "stop reading up on the google, you see these things and them assign them... -

designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You know... THANK YOU! And more hugs What you say sits well with me, I do think my thyroid is out as I have put a lot a weight on (from fruit and veg??!) and my hair SO thin now, I have bouts of mass shedding. Also a pee test with a private doc a while ago showed adrenal fatigue... Guess that impacts thyroid? And most hormones really. So I must be patient... -

Hi I'm on coeliac uk too. Directory would be useful if I was able to eat processed food! I think coeliac UK is really behind on up to date information although obviously it's better than nothing. I'm like CM and see my membership as more of a donation/ support. I never really use the website much unless its UK food related. -
ARCHIVED What Is Normal For First Ttg Antibody Check?
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks Lisa My docs are completely useless and I have to fight them for copies of any bloods. (They think I'm a trouble maker for even asking questions). I'm starting to think you are right you know, that my numbers are low and within normal range. I know it's not as good as being told the biopsies are normal but it's a bloody good place to start! In fact... -

you shining star!! thank you! so...tTG, maybe you are right then... i thought the same as you initially... and then starting looking at the results again, and wondered why they say Anti-tissue transglutaminase and then Tissue transglutaminase. Are these things the same thing then?? Ugh. I then looked up what the equivocal range meant and thought perhaps... -
ARCHIVED What Is Normal For First Ttg Antibody Check?
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
For your ref I'm typing EXACTLY as it appears: Code Result Anti tissue transgluaminase level 1.2u/mL (1-10)-Tissue transglutaminase equivocal range =7-10u/mL Is it just telling me what the equivocal range is? OR is it telling me my Tissue transglutaminase is in the equivocal... -
ARCHIVED What Is Normal For First Ttg Antibody Check?
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm confused. I typed them exactly as they appeared on my lab report. I thought the same as you to start with and I was elated. Then I researched and found out that 7-10 u/mL is a high reading. Unless thats a reference for labs. I don't understand why it says 'Anti-tissue transglutaminase ' and then under result it says' tissue transglutaminase'??? ... -

Ok, I've just learnt for myself that it isnt good news It seems my levels are still very high after 8 months. I'm so upset, can't believe it. I am as gluten free as I can be. The only gluten in my house is my husbands beer, but he knows that i won't go near him if he's drinking it, we don't even kiss through my own paranoia. I don't know what else to... -
ARCHIVED Help With Results...ttg & Thyroid
designerstubble posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello again Received some tTG results today from doctors. They could not interpret them. So I was wondering if anyone here could. I have been gluten-free for 8 months and I have no idea what my previous tTG levels were as they only came back with a positive (UK protocol in some areas). So I have no idea if these levels are good or not. (I have also put... -

ARCHIVED What Is Normal For First Ttg Antibody Check?
designerstubble posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello Had my blood taken 2 weeks ago, first tTg antibody test done since diagnosis last October. Normal protocol here in UK is they write to you to let you know the outcome if everything is OK, but I have just received a letter with a new appt for my blood results. Doesn't bode well. The main problem I have is that when they diagnosed me, the labs... -
ARCHIVED Ectopic Heartbeats And Exercise?

Thanks so much for your response! This exactly how I feel about my running and exercise. I haven't really had this problem after running except once, when in the shower I felt like my heart didn't beat for about 3 seconds, then it went crazy for a few seconds... I felt a bit dizzy & lightheaded and it did make feel queazy and odd... but it had been a... -
Went to docs last week because of palpitations, flutters, missed beats... They occur sometimes everyday at rest or after eating or basically at anytime, ocasionally I don't notice them for a day. Sometimes I notice 10 in an hour. Sometimes its more than just one ectopic, its 3 or 4 together. Once after a run i had a missed beat of about 3 seconds then a...

ARCHIVED Severe Adrenal Fatigue Symptoms?
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, I think you are right, as I have had weight gain, hairloss etc... I have made an appt for docs next week. Any ideas on what tests I might need?? The doc that tested my pee was private (i'm in UK) and I can't afford to go back to her. I'll have to go to the crusty local doc unfortunately that doesn't even know about celiac. Ugh. Its never ending hey...
