  1. Claire, we have Whole Foods down here in Dallas. They have a GREAT Gluten-Free line of bakery items. If I remember correctly, they have cranberry scones. You might ask about them next time you're in. I haven't had them as I have an aversion to eating things shaped in a triangle.
  2. Tummy bloat is really embarrassing to deal with. It never fails. Every year before we take our family trip to the beach I get glutened the few days before. Forget wearing a bikini when you look 5 months preggers. My husband finds it rather humorous (as he's wanting us to get pregnant soon), but it sure doesn't make you feel sexy.
  3. . Sharon, no they weren't Kinnikinick. They were from Nutrilicious Natural Bakery. I guess there's a difference between NUTRAlicious and DElicious. Thanks Tiffany. I'm not a writer by trade, but have loved writing since a journalism class in high school. I'm a photographer in real life. This was just my attempt at making a gloomy experience...
  4. It has been YEARS since I've had a donut. Every Sunday at church, there are boxes of Krispy Kremes lined up in the back of Sunday School class and it kills me...I can smell how fresh they are. *sigh* It's one of the few things that I miss terribly and have not found an alternative for. So yesterday I'm at Whole Foods, getting my gluten-free Prairie...
  5. Oh, I'm so glad others have had good experiences before as well. I think we should share more of those positive ones. Since I'm still learning to not gluten myself, every successful meal is a reason for celebration. (Especially eating out!) Rice usually is gluten-free. I haven't had any issues with it as long as it doesn't have seasonings...
  6. celiac3270, Thank you SO much! I feel like I've gone crazy looking for my posts. I've never heard of "pinning" topics before they're recognized. The other boards I'm a member of just automatically put the most recent posts at the top. I have some acclamating to do here. Billygoat
  7. I've posted a couple topics and never seem to find them in the appropriate section. Where are my posts going? Then again, I'm not really savvy to this particular DB, so I may just not be looking in the right place either. When I open this site, it automatically goes to the main screen of the forum, where I see all the different categories. But I've posted...
  8. Do you have any Pei Wei Asian Diners in your area? I've heard they are owned by the same company as PF Chang's, so I decided to walk in and ask if they had a gluten-free menu. They do! It only has a few items on it, but it's good stuff! You can check it out here on their website: Open Original Shared Link I just happened to be in the take out lane...
  9. LOL@"Old Lady" That's creative! I don't understand why people are so insensitive. Maybe it's because I'm overly sensitive? I dunno. I don't think I am. I wouldn't like anyone calling me "a celiac", just as my friend suffering from breast cancer doesn't want to be called "a cancer". Just don't get it...
  10. Sorry you're not feeling well. I got glutened the other day from the McDonald's Grilled Chicken Caesar. It didn't dawn on me that picking out the croutons would contaminate me. One of these days I'll get this gluten-free diet down. Be careful about drinks too. I unknowingly glutened myself with Tropicana Lemonade (2-litre) and IBC Black Cherry...
  11. I've had some Asian bean mung threads yesterday for lunch and had a TERRIBLE gluten attack. One of the worst in years. Doubled over in pain, major gas, bloating. I've been miserable. I don't remember the brand name.
  12. I've been to almost every large beer, health food, and specialty store in the Dallas area. Nobody has gluten-free beer. When I spoke with the beer master at WF in Plano, they said as far as they know, you can't get it in Texas.
  13. Okay, I'm a newbie at this. I didn't look on their site, I just googled it and the first site I read said it was gluten-free. I guess I should be more deliberate with home work. I don't know if I've ever had an issue with casein. I don't even know what it is. More research I guess. This whole diet restriction thing is really getting annoying...
  14. A friend who is lactose intolerant (which I am gluten and lactose intolerant) suggested I try Tofutti's Lactose Free Better than Cream Cheese. She said it tasted really good, so I thought I'd give it a try. At the store I read the ingredients: no lactose, good. Nothing dangerously wheat sounding in there, good. Well, this is before I find out maltodextrin...
  15. I'm fairly new to this discussion board (although not new to gluten-free dieting) and have learned so much about the gluten-free diet lately. I've worked hard to be gluten-free, but over the years I feel like I've been "glutened" even though I don't think I have. Someone on this board mentioned getting glutened by drinks? How is that? What ingredient...
  16. My father was diagnosed with celiac about 12 years ago. I was never diagnosed, but after noticing similar symptoms in me, my father recommended I go gluten-free for 30 days. It was incredibly hard, but I did it. That was about 6 years ago. And felt better than I had in years. One of the first things to go was my mood swings. I would get angry at the...
  17. Hi everyone, Newbie here. I live in Dallas, TX and we have Whole Foods here. They have several breads and desserts that I think are the best gluten-free things I've ever tasted. They have blueberry muffins, chocolate chip walnut cookies, and peanut butter cookies to die for. Prairie Bread and Tomato Basil bread are good, but only if toasted....
