  1. Hi Cara! I was in DC this past fall for a weekend. Two of us are gluten free and made most of our meals in the hotel too. We did try Holy Cow and the Protein Bar though and neither of us got sick (I am super sensitive). Holy Cow has gluten-free buns as well as a dedicated prep area, grill and fryer. Open Original Shared Link/ The protein bar is good...
  2. Well Stevia should always be gluten-free since it is a natural extract from a plant. I would still check the label though just in case they added flavorings or it is processed on shared equipment (the usual deal). I will say though that I do not tolerate artificial sweeteners either and had high hopes for stevia. Unfortunately my body reacted to it very...
  3. I agree with the others that the biggest reason you aren't feeling better is because it sounds like you are not really eating gluten-free. I was shocked at how sensitive I am. It's definitely an adjustment but it does become second nature eventually. I also wanted to add that taking a mulit-vitamin made a difference for me in terms of fatigue (I've been...
  4. First- a little background about myself... I worked in the restaurant/bar industry for 6 years, have celiac's and enjoy going out with friends often -Be careful of bar glasses. A lot of times bars do not have time to properly clean them and simply dunk them in a sanitizing solution. Always ask for a plastic cup. I've been glutened by wine glasses before...
  5. I have always gotten an upset stomach when I take vitamins. I have had success with taking them in smaller doses though (2-3x a day instead of 1x). Your body can only handle and digest so much of any one vitamin/food at a time anyway so you will also end up getting a better absorption rate. Look at health food stores, GNC or body building webistes for ones...
  6. My glutening symptoms are mostly neurological as well (although now that I have healed some I get much worse gastro issues). Like chocominties says- pack all your meals and keep snacks handy so you aren't tempted to try anything risky. It isn't hard to avoid getting glutened if you eliminate risk. You should have a conversation with your boss though...
  7. I find that lots of water and a good workout helps clear my head. It is really hard but 30 min-1 hour of light cardio makes a big difference for me and was essential during the first few months. On a side note, I didn't completely get rid of the brain fog until I eliminated the gums. Just something to consider if you still don't feel well and are certain...
  8. I also have an issue with Xanthan gum (all gums except cellulose gum- I'm still holding out hope that one day I can tolerate them again). I'm almost positive that snyders and glutino gluten-free pretzels are gum free though. I finally figured out that potato starch and corn also give me issues and had to give up the pretzels because of it. Hope you figure...
  9. To me this sounds an awful lot like a FODMAP and/or fructose issue. Certain vegetables and fruits(especially apples), dairy, beans and gluten can all cause digestive issues. It is a relatively new to doctors in the USA since most of the research on it comes from Australia. Check outOpen Original Shared Link and Open Original Shared Link-they do a lot of research...
