  1. Glad to help! What you learned makes sense. I learned of my flouride allergy the hard way... when I was in preschool, I found a flouride tablet on the floor in my classroom and thought it was candy. I ate it, and got anaphylaxis .
  2. Yes! Tap water makes my stomach burn, as if I have severe indigestion. I think the chlorine irritates my stomach, but then, I'm also allergic to flouride.
  3. I have a story to share: In high school, being a "theater geek," my favorite movie was The Phantom of the Opera, which had just come out recently. During that time, I was also feeling unhappy about my Celiac (because, as many of you know, high school isn't easy, and it's even harder when you're different). But one day, my good friend brought a magazine...
  4. I'm a Baptist. Sorry I didn't mention that in my original post .
  5. Oh boy! I'm going to try one as soon as my store gets them.
  6. I generally avoid all gluten, but once a month I take communion at church. A family friend who also has Celiac says I shouldn't even be eating the communion wafer. I don't know... the wafer is the size of my thumbnail, and it doesn't seen to give me any adverse effects. If so, they're minimal. Can eating that tiny wafer once a month really hurt me?
  7. Good luck! It gets easier.
  8. I tried some of those soft drink mixes that come in a tube, and you pour it in your water bottle and shake it up. When I tried the red kind, I experienced symptoms that I would associate with eating gluten, mainly abdominal pain. Does anyone else react to red food dye? I'm thinking maybe it isn't gluten-free.
  9. Great advice! I'm going to a wedding in June, too, so I could also benefit from this topic.
  10. I hope so! I'm sorry your friend stopped inviting you. Something like that happened to me, too, when I was in high school.
  11. Thanks for the advice everyone! I am feeling a lot better, since I put this situation into words. For years, I've tried to avoid thinking about my Celiac Disease, but it's nice to be connected to people who get what it's like!
  12. I got hives often before being diagnosed, but not so much anymore.
  13. I think my Grandma actually does have it. She always gets sick after eating certain things, but she won't get tested, as she doesn't want to give up the foods she likes. I think a big reason why she treats me the way she does is for fear that she could have Celiac too.
  14. Yeah. I sleep until around 8:30 in the morning, then usually take a nap in the afternoon. I feel drained and tired pretty often.
