  1. Thanks everyone for all your help. Looks like the KitchenAid is the mixer I would need. Now to try to justify spending that kind of money.

  4. I was in Penney's yesterday and noticed a Sunbeam Mixmaster stand mixer with a 450 watt motor. It looked almost exactly like the KitchenAid at about half the cost. Does anyone out there have a Sunbeam and does it work as well as the KitchenAid? Sue
  5. Nini, Where did you find it for 2.50? It's 4.95 on the GFP web site and our local markets don't carry that particular mix. I live in Illinois across the river from St. Louis. Sue

  7. Does anyone have a gluten-free "Bisquick" mix recipe? I have Bette Hagman's recipe but she uses buttermilk powder and I'd rather jusst use instant powdered milk. Suppose I could just substitute there and be safe? Any ideas? Thanks.
  8. Wow! Thanks for all the suggestions. I was especially interested in the celery soup. Speaking of the boullion granules--I made a mix using the cubes and just ground them up as fine as I could. Worked well. I did find some chicken granules in a local store here.. It's a store brand--Flavorite. Seems to be gluten-free but I'm still trying the find out. I found...

  14. I have made the featherlite biscuits twice and the only problem I have had is rolling the dough too thin. When Bette says the dough needs to be 3/4" thick she means it!! The aroma is not as good as "real" biscuits but I just don't get too close. I think I'm going to use the butter-flavored Crisco the next time and see if that helps the taste and aroma...

  17. Has anyone made a loaf of gluten-free bread using one of the mixes available the "old fashioned" way with out using a bread machine? I would like to try this but don't know about any adaptations I would need to make of if it is even possible. Thanks. Sue

  19. Everyone is talking about corn meal and I wonder if you are all referring to special gluten-free corn meal or something bought in the supermarket. I found some special gluten-free corn meal on line and bought several bags of it and a "not so cheap" price. Now I'm wondering if I could have just bought something out of the store. Thanks. Sue
  20. That recipe sounds great but I am having trouble finding the gluten-free soup bases she refers to except in the specialty catalogs. Does anyone know if there are any other soup bases I can check out?
