  1. exactly what Rachel-24 said. My daughter's blood test came back negative but she had an IgA deficiency. I called Children's Hospital and talked to the clinic - they said that there was definitely a chance that she had Celiac's and her test was a false negative. I think they said there is no such thing as a false positive but plenty of false negatives....
  2. I don't celebrate Christmas but we got a turkey from Whole Foods for Thanksgiving - my daughter loved it. I also made her gluten free chocolate chip cookies that she is loving - so am I! I used Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free All Purpose Baking Flour. As for gravy, my sister in law made some with corn starch instead of flour.
  3. Hey Skipper - my daughter was the same way. The doctors said she had reflux. It seemed to get better as she was on veggies and breastmilk. We had even weaned her off of medicine. Then we introduced cheerios and she started throwing up 15 times a day. The doctors thought her reflux had come back. We continued to feed her everything. She ate unbelievable...
  4. I send in all of my daughter's snacks to her preschool. I do not do it so the class can all have her snack for fear that another kid would say, "Eww, this is gross." After reading "Kids With Celiac Disease" by Donna Korn, I have always stuck to this method. At her birthday parties, I have had some food for everyone - Pirate's Booty, Tings (all by Robert...
  5. Mitch - there is also such a thing as Silent Celiacs. Thank g-d you caught it when you did. Even without symptoms showing, damage can be occuring in Max's body. Good luck to you guys and hope you can find help around here. Michelle
  6. I would say the same as others here as far as hidden glutens. I had the same experience with her vitamins. She now takes two to get all the vitamins and minerals she needs. I also had to switch her soap/lotion. Once I did that, it eliminated a lot of issues for us. Fortunately for me, eating has never been an issue for her - she loves to eat. I would...
  7. Emmy, I do not have Celiac's but my almost 3 year old does. I noticed you are in MD. We are too. We stay away from Chipotle (mostly because I don't like their food) and I would be suspicious of contamination there. I don't know where you are in MD but we go to California Tortilla instead - my daughter gets their rice and chicken and does great with it...
  8. my daughter had a false negative blood test because her IGA was low. then her biopsy showed up normal as well because she had not had enough gluten in her prior to the test. clinically, she screams celiac's, so she was diagnosed as probable celiac's so that we can run tests on her when she gets older. if you feel better, do the diet - there's no harm in...
  9. My daughter kept reacting even after we had eliminated all gluten from her diet. I read an article about shampoos/lotions so I decided to switch her shampoo and voie laz (sp?). She was a happy camper, started napping for the first time in her life and stopped having gluten poops. This past summer she reacted to suntan lotion as well. So, I would definitely...
  10. Smunkeemom - thank you so much for posting that list. We are trying to figure out what our daughter can and cannot have as well. We called Mars and let her have some m&m's at a local Halloween party - they were minis in a blue bag and did not say crispy but the past three days have been horrible for her. I think we will stay away from those for the...
