  1. Hey, I just bought the Zojirushi Home Bakery Virtuoso breadmaker. It has a gluten free setting, and excellent reviews on Amazon. It just arrived earlier this week, and we are baking our first loaf of gluten-free bread as I type this. I never baked bread before, but the instruction manual came with gluten-free recipes, and we just followed the instructions...
  2. Thank you!! gluten-free bread recipes would have been my next forum topic question. The reviews for this book on Amazon were VERY good. We are going to buy this book. I am excited already. I am hoping to make our own gluten-free bread on a weekly basis. I just thought a bread maker would make things easier. I am under the impression, that with...
  3. Hello, My 11 year-old was diagnosed with Celiac almost a year ago, and we are getting tired of eating over priced and frozen gluten-free breads. I want to make our own bread. (I am a pretty good cook, but not a baker at all. Never baked any bread before.) Can anyone recommend a good home bread maker, especially if you had success baking...
  4. Very fraustrating, isn't it! We are in your exact same situation. My daughter was diagnosed in Feb of 2014, almost a year ago. I have done a ton of research, and follow what we believe is a very strick gluten-free diet. My whole family is eating gluten-free to avoid contamination. But we too still have very high TTG numbers. We have another...
  5. We will be on a Norwegian cruise to the Carribean Islands. They already emailed me that they will accomodate our gluten-free diet, but said that we are not allow to bring our own food onboard. I am worried about not finding food for my 11 year-old on the various islands. So, I don't know if the cruise will provide a gluten-free brown bag lunch for us...
  6. That's good to hear!! We will be going on our 1st cruise with our daughter's celiac diagnosis in April. I have a question: when you disembark for land for the day, do you ask the cruise ship to pack a gluten-free lunch with you? Or how do you handle outings on land?
  7. Hi guys, Our Ez gluten test kit finally arrived. I just did two trial tests to see if we can trust this product. I tested our gluten-free Tamari soy sauce, and it tested negative for gluten. Yeah, our gluten free soy sauce is gluten free! I tested a regular wheat bread, and it tested high positive for gluten. It does take about 20 minutes...
  8. Hi there, we did clean out the kitchen, and got rid of lots of old kitchen tools and some appliances. We bought new toaster oven, and even got rid of our much loved Belgium waffle maker (we bought a new waffle maker too). I just don't know what else we might be doing wrong. It is frastrating, that's why we want the test kit. I am going to buy...
  9. Thanks everybody. Yes, my entire family is gluten free now. All home cooked meals are gluten free. Maybe I do need to be more patient then. We have another lab test scheduled for Feb. Stephanie, thank you for your recommendation. Did you find the test kit reliable? My biggest fear with such tests is actually false positive. My daughter...
  10. We did that too. We did not eat out once for 30 days prior to our Nov test, and we still tested over 100 ttg. My 11 year-old is a picky eater. She only likes so many things. We are comfortable with the food labeled gluten-free such as Glutino, Udi's etc. We want to test the foods that do not have gluten on the ingredients lists, but are not labeled...
  11. Our lab results do not show any number above 100, so we just don't know how high her TTG was at the initial diagnose. We have had two lab tests since then, the one at August was also over 100, then our recent Nov test again showed over 100. We have been super careful, I really thought that our Nov ttg would come down, so I thought to test some of...
  12. Hello, My 11-year-old is a slient celiac. She suffers no symptoms from gluten. We have been on a strict Gluten Free diet for about 9 months, and our last lab test still showed a high TTG number. It was above 100. We wanted to test a few food items that she likes to eat for gluten. We think they are gluten free, but they aren't labeled as...
