  1. My daughter had the endoscopy when she was ten. It is a rather simple procedure. We went to the hospital early in the morning. They put her out first, which took just a few minutes. I got to stay with her and held her hands until went to sleep. Then the procedure itself took about 10-15 minutes. She came out, and stayed in a bed for an hour or...
  2. I agree. What you need is a good doctor. You shouldn't have to worry about how to convince a doctor about feeling sick and helpless. Crohn's is indeed a very serious disease, and even more difficult to control than celiac. People with Crohn's tend to avoid a lot of food, including gluten. Good luck to you!
  3. I am sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with the physicians. To me, the real question is: are you on a strict gluten free diet, and are you feeling better and healthier? If you are, you don't need to "convince" any doctors, you don't need their blessing, certainly not their attitude. It is your own body, if you know that gluten makes...
  4. After we bought our Zojirushi breadmaker, we loved it so much, we bought their rice maker too. So, I know the cute little songs the rice maker makes! LOL. Their breadmaker is very easy to use. After you put all the ingredient together, you push the gluten free setting, and wait a couple of hours, you will get a beautiful loaf of bread. The...
  5. Shortly after my daughter was diagnosed with celiac, I researched and bought a Zojirushi bread machine. It has a gluten free baking setting on it. I have had great success with it, and made many, many loafs of fresh gluten-free bread. Of course, we only use it to bake gluten-free bread. Very easy to use, easy to clean. We love it. https://www...
  6. I am also never offended by this question. I believe they ask this question to find out if they need to be careful with cross contamination. So I actually like it if my waiter asks this question. In fact, when the waiter does not ask, I volunteer the information that my daughter is allergic (she has celiac) to gluten, and to please tell the kitchen...
  7. If you are planning to make gluten-free bread on a regular basis, you most definitly should get a bread machine with gluten-free settings on it. I have been making a loaf of bread for my daughter every week since I got this machine. It is so easy. All I have to do is to put the ingreidents (wet ingredients, then dry ingrdients on top), push a couple...
  8. Our first homemade gluten-free bread was a big success. It came out of the machine looking beautiful. It has a nice fluff to it, not dense. We just had it for dinner. Fresh, warm gluten-free bread tasted so good. My celiac child is so grateful, and our whole family enjoyed it. This machine is easy to use, just follow the instructions, toss in the...
  9. Hey, I just bought the Zojirushi Home Bakery Virtuoso breadmaker. It has a gluten free setting, and excellent reviews on Amazon. It just arrived earlier this week, and we are baking our first loaf of gluten-free bread as I type this. I never baked bread before, but the instruction manual came with gluten-free recipes, and we just followed the instructions...
