I just wanted to thank everyone who posted here. It was interesting to read about the European differences compared to USA. I for one, stay completely away from gluten, as far as I can help it. I have gotten glutened a few times, but they have been minor. The one time it was big enough to have a major stomach problem reminded me how bad I felt before...

debmidge.. I see you are from NJ.. as am I, you can get Swanson Chicken Broth and it is gluten free. I use it all the time. And for boullion use Herb Ox, that is gluten free and it says so right on the container. You can get both of these products at your local ShopRite. I know that for sure. I hope this helps you! Today we were in Philadelphia for my son to go to the hospital. I must comment to all of you if you have the resources to try Mr Ritts Bakery. Their stuff was just plain good!!!! They have a basket full of samples when you walk in the door so you dont have to buy anything you dont like. The girl who worked there was extremely helpful and polite. She... -

Does anyone know if Hillshire Farms Smoked Beef Sausage or Polska Kielbasa is gluten free? I would appreciate any help. Tinkerbell -
I also have not knowingly cheated, but I have been careless. I have also only been on this diet since Oct '06, so that isnt a major thing yet. I do have cravings, but I try to remember all those days in the hospital on meds that made me goofy and I let the craving pass. Tinkerbell

ARCHIVED Son Possibly Sick
TinkerbellSwt posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have been gluten free since October 2005. My son born in May 2005 was also gluten free too. His formula just happens to be gluten free as are most baby foods. I read the labels on his foods anyway as we have gotten further into his foods. I wanted him tested ASAP but I was told that he had to ingest gluten to be tested for celiacs. (this never occured... -

TinkerbellSwt replied to 11111's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a health food store by me that carries the frozen Chebe for me. It is not easy to find. I checked on the Chebe website and it lists stores that carry their products. I went to the stores near me and most didnt have any of it, frozen or dry. I know the frozen is really expensive to buy and I havent found a cheaper website, only gluten free mall... -
ARCHIVED See's Candy
TinkerbellSwt replied to katshow's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
WOW! Thank you sooo much for that information. I emailed Godiva the other day. As they were my favorites for a long long time. They said that gluten is used in their candies. That as far as they would say, do not eat their candies if you have a gluten sensitivity. That really got me down. But now I will have to order See's! Thanks again! Tinker -

TinkerbellSwt replied to DavidB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ragu is gluten free I think. I used it the other day on my Chebe pizza crust and it was good. I am sure making your own at home tastes much better though! When I have the time I will have to do that. Tinker -

ARCHIVED Ricotta
TinkerbellSwt posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am going to try to make my first gluten free lasagna this week. Does anyone know of a gluten free ricotta? I have not come across any type that says anything about gluten on the labels. In the ingredients they all just say vinegar. So if anyone knows of a gluten free ricotta it would be a great help. Thank you Tinker -

ARCHIVED Foods By George - No Rye, Rye English Muffins
TinkerbellSwt replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am reading all these posts about pizza crust. I only have one that I know of to be any good. All of the white rice crusts are too dry and crumbly. I like the Chebe pizza crust. They have both kinds the already made frozen one (which costs a bit) or the dry mix. The dry mix is easy to make too. I will be looking for George's pizza crust though now... -
ARCHIVED Ugh! Why Am I Still So Stupid?
TinkerbellSwt replied to VydorScope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you sooo much for this thread! I have been wondering all along what might be making me sick when I make my gluten free New England Clam Chowder. I had been using a large Calphalon pot, but it was soo heavy and hard to clean that I switched back to an old pot I had bought at K-Mart eons ago. I dont get sick everytime, but enough to make me question... -
ARCHIVED Wedding Planning - Any Suggestions?
TinkerbellSwt replied to teebs in WV's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am also trying to plan a wedding. My first wedding date was cancelled due to me being in the hospital b/c of my undiagnosed celiacs at the time. We lost everything. The church, hall, caterers, florist, minister, DJ, and photographer. My mother lost tons of money. But enough of my woes, I am grateful that this topic came up as we are going to try to... -
