  1. Kassandra, what sort of tea is it you're drinking? If it's ordinary tea, you should try stopping it - it's a major irritant for 'sore' stomachs. Try hot water and lemon. Carla suggested it to me, it really does work. i hope you start finding some answers really soon. Rachel, thanks for all the info on candida and coeliac. I've not had time to fully digest...
  2. Rachel - it's really great to hear about all your progress and being able to eat more Do you put some of it down to the biotin and low oxalate diet? Thanks for reposting the link about biotin. I've also been rereading some of your stuff about candida and celiac proteins which is very thought provoking. Thanks! Got a couple of questions - is the research...
  3. Here's an interesting link on migraines, one main focus being the connection with magnesium deficiency: Open Original Shared Link
  4. Jin, sorry you've had a migraine. I'v got one too Not as bad as the last one I had though, but can't spend much time on here. I don't know what's triggered it, although I'm thinking maybe lack of chocolate I have the big C too, despite taking large amounts of vit c, so I'm thinking that I'm detoxing something. Anyway, one good thing is that I've...
  5. WARNING, PEE QUESTION AHEAD!!! OK, so I've gone back on the no sugar, no yeast etc diet and I've noticed that, as usual when I start to do this, my pee smells of those honey covered wheat puffs This has happened too many times now for it to be just a coincidence, son I'm wondering what it means. Is it some sort of sugar dumping thing? Sorry for...
  6. Ok everyone, here's a link on lead in chocolate: www.thegreenguide.com/doc/118/chocolate I also read elsewhere that the cocoa bean itself is very low in lead but it's the manufacturing process that brings the lead in. I haven't had any chocolate since Carla first raised this issue (having totally pigged out on it for the past couple of weeks...
  7. Tom, it's a shame you can't spy on me or my personal shopper aka DH to stop me buying chocolate Yes, Donna, I've been overloading on it too. Really bad news, I know.... <sigh> Haven't had any today though and plan to keep it that way. Carla posting about choclate containing lead has kinda put me off for now anyways. Ami, congratulations on your...
  8. How on earth does he figure that one?? How can we be sure he's right? If this is true, it's going to be the factor that I need to ensure I don't keep going back to chocolate! And yes, my heavy metal problem is with lead.... Hi Mel! Good to see you. I'm sure others who understand this sort of thing more than me will be more helpful, but, are...
  9. Jin, I should also say that I've found it really really tough going with the old brain fog. I couldn't do advocacy any more (thinking on my feet just isn't an option). I've probably said before - I changed to doing wills & probate about a year ago (mainly so I could work part time around DS's schooling). It's a surprisingly technical area and my brain...
  10. Hi Jin Well, you remind me so much of me, that I have to say you would make a good lawyer Your attention to detail and the way you think (compulsively like me) about everything would mean you would be a brilliant attorney. However, I also know that from the way you 'listen' so carefully to everyone here and research all the health issues so well...
  11. Hello everyone Just a drive by as this is my first day back at work following the flu, so there's mountains to catch up on. Thanks for all your good wishes. I'm sure I'll be back here 'properly' very soon. This thread is such a great school Thanks for your summaries Jin - what a great way to catch up! Patti, I hope you and Mark are...
  12. Dear all I'm getting over flu, so haven't been posting, but have been lurking. I hope you'll understand that this will be brief! As most people know, I've been quite depressed recently. I think that coming here doesn't help. that's sounds horrible and I don't mean it to be. Everyone here is so wonderful and I've learnt so very much, but if I try to...
  13. Carla, I'm in danger of racheling lemons today I think I'm acidic at the moment coz of all the rubbish I've been eating this week. The lemons definitely feel like they're helping, thanks for that suggestion. Mind you, I've always loved lemons and used to eat them when I was little ...must look up that alkalizing (sp?) diet. We have a whole load...
  14. Getting really excited here NMH can be caused by diabetes insipidus. Not read much on that yet, but its not the same as 'ordinary' diabetes (for which I've been tested and found negative), but can be the explanation for excessive thirst and urination, which I definitely suffer from. I'm thirsty all the time. So I might be getting some more tests run...
  15. omg I might be on to something!! Great lead on the NMH, Jin. Have a look at this link if you haven't already: Open Original Shared Link The NMH can explain so many of my symptoms, especially the feeling really rubbish after exercise. That's a major problem for me at the moment, as I have to walk DS to school, then cycle into work, then cycle...
  16. Rachel, your dr saying about the blood and black eyes really cracks me up It reminds me of when I tried to talk to my dr about candida some time back. Apparently you have to be at death's door to get systemic candida. They actually said, you have to have a severely compromised immune system (are our immune systems just pretending then?! ) Susie
  17. Thanks for that. Will definitely look that up. I asked a dr once whether it was an issue having such low bp and he said it would mean I live to 100 Rachel, how did you find out which foods make you depressed? Did you start with a strict elimination diet? I'd like to persevere with an elimination diet, but I'm yet to find one that doesn't...
  18. Rachel, I'm so sorry you had such a cr**py dr's appointment, but thanks so much for sharing your experience...I have got to the stage where I'm pretty much just using my dr for ordering tests too. I'm glad you got your CT scan ordered. I hope your whole-body drs can get to the bottom of things for you. In the UK it's extra difficult I think, because...
  19. Hi Jin I'm like that with long hot showers too. I figured it was for the same reason as with hot baths ie dehydration and detoxing. <<shrugs>> Susie
  20. Jin, just had a quick surf and your hunch was correct, zinc deficiency is related to low serotonin production. Light bulb moment! Will try to research more later and let you know what I come up with. Thanks again
  21. Donna, I agree with Patti Accept all the help you can get girl Jin, we do not talk like that in the UK! Don't watch those shows Polite people wouldn't go round calling others cows and 'blow me' is archaic. It may be used by the older generation a bit, but us youngsters wouldn't have to go to the US to assume it meant something else... Thanks...
  22. Jin, you're such a wonderful encouragement, thank you I think you're right about my need to have the carbs for the seretonin. Hopefully once my zinc levels have normalised, I will feel better emotionally, as zinc is supposed to really help. It amused me to read that you're basing you're knowledge of English-English on our TV shows lol I'm guessing...
  23. Kassandra, GPs generally know very little about allergies and intolerances, so an allergy specialist is a must. I've developed allergies over the past few months, so has my sister who is also celiac. My sister's oral allergies are so bad now she has to carry an epi-pen. thankfully I'm not that bad, but am concerned I might get that way and my GP has referred...
  24. Hello everyone Sorry to hear you're struggling Donna. I've been in a pretty rubbish way too, and not felt at all like posting. I got very depressed, and my diet's gone completely out of the window. I find it really difficult to eat a restrictive diet when I get depressed. Eating junk seems to be my way of coping <sighs> not sure how I'll ever...
  25. Hi all I've been lurking around this thread reading it with interest, although some degree of confusion too I have definitely got a problem with most nightshades. They make my stomach feel very raw. Not sure about potatoes. They are my one 'can't live without' food. They don't seem to cause me any problems but who knows? What I'm confused about, is...
