  1. Ok...I just called on the last set of blood work done...since no one seemed it necessary to call us...and found out that all they did was a CBC and a LFT.....I am SO aggravated at myself for not making sure that we were going to do the serology to check things out.....maybe this is normal and I am still so new to this that I do not know what goes on at these...
  2. I am wondering how long any of you have continued to take your child for follow-up appointments?
  3. That is so "funny" that you would say that...that is what I was told by 2 different GI doc...but I actually would like them to come hang out here with us for a few weeks and then see what they think about that...IMHO that is just one more thing that they are"off a little on" when it comes to celiac!!
  4. Cooper's bracelet just says Celiac Disease. However...I think that having that as well as all of the pertinent info on a USB key chain would be a fab idea...I mean it seems that some of these GI doc's know squat about Celiac...how could you expect a ER doc to be in the know....Try these links:(hope they work) Bracelet: www.n-styleid.com (lots of cute...
  5. We got the id for our 3 year old who has Celiac. We also have a few t shirts that say..food allergy, or do not feed me with out talking to my parnets first. He is ok with the id bracelet...but he loves the shirts...and others have commented on them as well. He wears the shirts when we have get togethers with mulitple families or to church outings...hope that...
  6. Last week we took our son back to his GI for a follow up visit. Except that we had to see another doctor in the office because our regular one is out sick. The doctor comes in and right off the bat does tell us that he took the time to look over Cooper's chart.(yeah thanks!) Then he tells us that "there is still alot we do not understand about Celiac and...
  7. We found out that our Red Robin doesn't use a dedicated fryer!! We loved their fries too!!
  8. We got a rx for a topical lidocane cream. You put it on thick about an hour before the blood draw/shot and it numbs the area. We call it the magic cream!!
  9. I think that I just needed to "talk" through the situation. I just don't want to let the celiac "run" our lives...yeah right ..it already does!! I am just afraid that I sound like no one can do it as good as me and hubby...but ya know...right now..no one can. My parents are fantastic about everything and try real hard...but there are so many back issues with...
  10. The kids are 6, 3 1/2 and 2. The more I think about it...the more convinced I am that it probably isn't good timing. The 3 1/2 has Celiac and he does know what he can and can't eat...but I think that CC will be the biggest hurdle. Besides..I do not have a very good relationship with the grandparents and from past dealings..they would find anything that I...
  11. I am needing some guidance. My husband is going on a business trip and has asked me to go with him. We would be leaving our kids with a grandparent for about a week. That thought has me scared to death. Only one of then has celiac. I think the diet is tricky enough for us and we deal with it all the time..mainly the cross contamination issues. I am just...
  12. It is a Malco Theatre. I think that we may just get his with out butter...better safe than terribly sorry!! We went to the movies about 5 months ago and didn't notice any problems then...but I also had a newborn in ICU and wasn't home a whole lot. Thanks
  13. We are taking the boys to see Cars tonight and after stocking up on a few gluten-free candies(so I do not have to pay movie theatre price) I was wondering about the popcorn. I have searched but can not find anything onit...does anyone out there know if it is ok?? Thanks to all...Dallas
  14. Thanks Carrie...that was what we were afraid of....by the way...your picture is beautiful!!!
  15. I am looking for information which I can not find...maybe some of you can help. We are visiting my parents right now and I am wondering about the wheat that is growing in the field and has been cut while we are here. Is this dangerous...or does the wheat have to be processed first before it is harmful. My parents are GREAT about Coop's diet...but after...
  16. There is a forbidden list!! Try clicking on the site index link on the left side!! Sorry I am not terribly computer techno savvy! THere is a safe and forbidden list...yours for the printing!!
  17. Some paints and finger paints do contain gluten...I'd ask the teachers for the brands and double check for safety.
  18. CarlaB.....OH MY.... I had no idea about charcoal!!! What brand did you use?? Do you or does andybody know of a gluten-free brand?!
  19. Thanks for the responses!! I think I just had a paniky mom moment!! Or a brain fart..and with 4 boys under 6 here....it happens so often!!! I am better now!! Dallas
  20. Our 3 1/2 year old son was diagnosed at the end od 2005. One of his symptoms was large, frequent loose bowel movements..for what is is worth...our GI doc said that that can be a symptom because the bowels are not able to completely empty. I DO NOT know how accurate that info is. I know that doctors can have old and/or outdated info...but that is what we were...
  21. I am wondering ....does this update often? Are they "developing" new ingredients and additives to watch out for or is this pretty much it??
  22. Ok..I am still new to this whole Celiac thing...but how did I miss the whole celiac is considered a deadly disease. I mean...I knew and know how important that it is to follow the gluten-free diet...but I guess that somewhere along the crazy road of just being happy we finally had a dx..that I missed that one.
  23. What is the scoop on malt Flavoring?? Anybody??
  24. Thanks..I will check that site out!! I REALLY think that there is a connection here!
  25. Here is my thinking on this...He is 6...has been potty trained since he was 4. Hardly any accidents after that time. Now all of the sudden he had started wetting the bed at night-easily 5 out of the last 7. He isnot our dx'd kid but we have been thinking of things that have happened in past and wondered if it might be in fact celiac. As a toddler, he would...
