  1. So from what the customer service said, it sounds like it is the same in Canada as the US? But very handy to know that all you have to do is read the ingredients and it will be very clear and easy to figure out what flavors might contain gluten.
  2. I was wondering if some members here are gluten-sensitive, but don't have celiac? I am feeling confused today. My stomach dr tested me for celiac, said it was a low positive so had me get more bloodwork to check other markers for celiac. I did have an endoscopy before this, but I don't think he was even thinking about celiac then, so I don't think did...
  3. Yum, black raspberry chocolate chip sounds so good! I always liked black raspberry in general, and putting chocolate jimmies on it. I bet the chocolate chips are even better.
  4. I hope it's the same in your country. Can you try emailing them and asking? I just wish they were not so pricey. I got some on sale, and it was so good. But I am on a limited budget, so that is going to have to be a rare treat. But a treat indeed! I got rum raisin and ate it in two days. I have a pineapple-coconut one also that I'm saving for some...
  5. I would be worried too, going there to eat because in the past I've had such careless service in general at our local one, I'd hate to trust them to not cross-contaminate. But you can buy their ice cream at grocery stores, so I think the flavors they list on their website as gluten-free should be okay to get at the grocery store. That at least is a plus...
  6. I saw on Wendy's website that their frosty's are gluten-free. I also looked online and found many gluten-free ice creams. Here are some links I found - Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link and- Open Original Shared Link warning....this page made me crave ice cream, lol: Open Original...
  7. Wow, thanks so much for those recipes. That will really come in handy. I live in New England, and I noticed the progresso mushroom soup so far only in one store, and that was Price Chopper. It was in with the regular canned soups. They have little tags that say "gluten free" in front of many products throughout their store (and they have a whole...
  8. I do brew my own a lot, but have had major fatigue the past week, and hubby will make me powdered ice tea for me, but he has never made the fresh brewed. Maybe I'll just wait until I feel up to making it. Better safe than sorry. I am new to going gluten-free and I don't want to accidentally have any. I just want to start feeling better. Gotta love that...
  9. Thanks for that link, Ennis.
  10. I think I heard Lipton Ice Tea mix is gluten-free. Has anyone used that and felt okay? Does anyone know about the Market Basket brand of ice tea mix? It says it contains natural flavor.
  11. Thanks. That is good to know.
  12. Thanks. I'll look for it.
  13. Where do you find potato starch? Is it in with flours and such at the store?
  14. Thank you. I wasn't sure if gluten hid in some of those weird phosphate and ascorbate ingredients.
  15. I have two boxes of Oscar Mayer Fully Cooked Bacon (Original flavor) in my fridge that I bought before hearing I might have gluten issues. I have been reading that most bacon is gluten-free. This one being the pre-cooked kind, I didn't know if it was safe. Does anyone here use it and have good luck with it? There are a few ingredients I am not sure about...
  16. I just found packets of McCormick's turkey gravy mix that you just add water to. I haven't made any yet to try it so now sure how good it is, but I usually like McCormicks for all their stuff. I used to make gravy when making roasted chicken, turkey, beef, by adding flour and water to their juice, but now I will have to get some rice flour...
  17. Thanks for that link to what people have had success with in their diet. That gives me some good ideas on vitamin supplements. I'm glad you found that spice extract. Anything that has that nostalgic, family feeling to it will be treasured, for sure.
  18. That's a good idea using tin foil and parchment. There is so much to think about that the dr's don't tell you, like about utensils and pans and such. I better get a new cheap non-stick pan soon too, I guess. Ugh! But I should count my blessings and try and look at the positive side of things. I think I am going to end up having sugar sometimes...
  19. I did hear about fryers, like at restaurants, might cross-contaminate. That is something I never would have thought of. I definitely need to get a new colander asap. I'll have to be careful with pans, or eventually work on buying a few for me. I've never heard of toaster bags, what a neat idea. I do have some parchment paper. As for the honey...
  20. Thanks for all the ideas. I was thinking soup would be a good thing to make and freeze in small batches for me. Your flat bread recipe sounds good. I am writing all this down. Thanks for the link to luckyvitamins.com I'll check that out. Speaking of vitamins, I might need to check out new supplements too, I don't know. I just started taking my D...
  21. I was thinking the colander could be a biggie. I always hate washing those because it takes forever to get the starch off. And if I am going to bother toasting anything, I guess a separate toaster makes sense too, since it seems to harbor crumbs. Until we get one, I might just not bother with toast or bread much. I don't plan on buying much of the pre...
  22. I am new to all this and have just gone gluten-free the past week. My family is still eating gluten. This is sounding so hard and confusing. Also, we are on a very tight budget so to think about getting a new toaster, pans, utensils, not to mention how some of the gluten-free foods are so much more expensive. Are there any people here who have celiac...
  23. Thanks so much for that info. I just bought some the other day, but was worried about whether to try it. Since I am only gluten-free a week now and still having symptoms, I hate to risk trying a "maybe" food, you know? I did also buy a can of Market Basket brand tomato puree in case I couldn't use the Hunts tomato sauce. It only had like tomatoes and...
  24. Thanks, Tessa25. I will do that.
  25. I make my own pasta sauces and often use tomato products in other recipes. I make my pasta sauce by using a big can of Pastene ground, peeled tomatoes. And when reading the ingredients it even says "gluten free" after it. I used to add a can of Hunts tomato paste and a can or two of water to the Pastene ground, peeled tomatoes. But I am waiting to find...
