  1. Thanks for the info. I wish we had a Costco in town. I always hear people mention finding good things there. I love making soup from ham bones. I make stewed beans usually (and then can also make an Italian soup from the stewed beans or eat them as is). I made split pea in the past too, but usually go for the stewed beans. I'll have to look up online...
  2. Thanks. I do get their precooked breakfast sausage and have had good luck with those. I'll keep them in mind for ham. I ended up getting the Hormel 81 Cure spiral ham that was on sale at a local store. Hope it's good!
  3. I see my local Price Chopper is selling Hormel Cure 81 Spiral Hams this week and their website shows that the Cure 81 are gluten-free. I emailed them and they confirmed the spiral Cure 81 as being gluten-free. So if anyone is looking for ham for Easter, this seems to be a safe one. Here is their list of all their gluten-free items and below that link is...
  4. Why do I always meet the nicest people I click with online who live far away? We would actually have someone we could cook and dine with if we were neighbors. Thanks for the mention of Sir Kensington. I just looked them up on amazon and even found ketchup by them - yay! Now that I am about to avoid literally all corn and soy (I've been dabbling...
  5. Thanks. I'll see if the stores have that, but I just went and saw it on amazon at least. Looks like they have other tasty looking condiments to try also.
  6. I had no idea xanthan gum was black mold! Eww! When I found out I couldn't have gluten, my dr warned me I might also need to avoid corn products, xanthan gum (which she told me was derived from corn - she never mentioned the mold, yuck!), that guar gum stuff, oats (even gluten-free ones), and soy. Apparently those are all culprits to many who cannot tolerate...
  7. Looks good and I love some of these, what I call retro recipes. I can't remember whether it was corn starch or soy or something I recall being in Jello pudding that I am not sure if it will bother me or not. I might try it someday. I'll keep this recipe in mind. It looks good. Thanks for sharing it.
  8. Ya, I am really craving the scalloped potatoes the more I think about them, lol! It was a delicious Thanksgiving and Christmas, gluten-free, so hopefully Easter will be too. I hope to get some energy back soon so I can experiment more with desserts and baking. But we'll figure something out for this year. The cheesecake we made this winter was delicious...
  9. Thank you for the link. I checked the ingredients and why oh why does it have to have brown rice flour and xanthan gum? I may look for it to try someday, just to see how I feel with it. But it seems xanthan gum does not do well with me, and neither does brown rice flour. I seem okay with white rice flour. But I am wondering once my stomach heals more...
  10. Black mold? What is that in??? Yikes! Nut milk yogurts sound good.
  11. I am in NH and use mayo. No one in our family will have anything to do with Miracle Whip. But what is funny is growing up, my great-aunt used to do all the cooking in the family get-togethers. And everyone loved her potato salad. She let me in on her secret that she used mayo, yes, but also a big giant scoop of Miracle Whip added to it. So I sometimes...
  12. Hi there. I just edited this post to include all spiral hams. I thought that might be easier. I just saw some info online about Carando and also Smithfield hams. Has anyone had either with good luck? Is there any spiral ham you have eaten that you are happy with? Smithfield Ham - apparently doesn't have a gluten-free list, but some outside websites...
  13. Lots of yummy ideas. I am still figuring out certain ingredients beside gluten that I can't seem to eat, so that can limit some recipes and store-bought products even more, but it's a learning process, that's for sure. Oh, and just a note about the manicotti crepe recipe I mentioned above, the easiest way to flip them when cooking is to flip them onto...
  14. I hope you find some good recipes you can handle. My husband just made me manicotti with a gluten-free crepe recipe this weekend that was really good. And only white rice flour, water, and egg in it. I think there are many things I could do with the crepe, savory or sweet. Here's the recipe if you'd like....I know how hard it is to find recipes with just...
  15. That makes sense about it being so concentrated. It's these little things(foods/flavors) we start missing, I think. I am wondering though if I will miss the crunch along with the flavor. I haven't ordered any yet,but probably soon. I jut splurged on some of those Christopher Bean flavored coffees for now. (They were expected to arrive today and...
  16. What does everyone like to make for a gluten-free Easter? This is my first Easter where I can't have gluten. It is changing some ideas I normally do. Just last year I discovered these yummy little ham and swiss sliders using Kings Hawaiian rolls. It has this sauce you make with Worcestershire and onion powder and butter. I will miss those. But I am...
  17. That porridge sounds really good. For some reason too many nuts and even coconut flour (in large amounts, seems okay if I use a little added to like white rice flour) seems to bother me. I am hoping once my stomach heals more it won't bother me. That is funny you mention the fruit circles flavor. A few days ago I had this craving out of the blue...
  18. All Kiss My Face products are gluten-free. They have sun screens, shampoo, lotions, etc, too. And they do not use nano-particles (same as Badger Balm) in their sunscreens. https://www.kissmyface.com/ I currently use Badger Balm sunscreens and I just avoid putting it anywhere near my mouth and then wash my hands well. I don't think there is gluten...
  19. Ever since I was a teen, some eye makeup (from eye shadow, liner, to mascara) can make my eyes irritated and water. I tended to have good luck with Cover Girl and L'Oreal as far as regular allergies. But that was before I got gluten issues. Right now I am not sure what to use.
  20. I hope someone might have some info for this. So far I have not looked into gluten-free makeup, but it's something I am wanting to do. So far I have not been wearing any foundation, powder, or lipstick. I thought i heard something about mineral foundation and powders being safe, but not sure if that is all brands. All I know so far is I am safe using...
  21. My husband bought me my own toaster now that I can't eat gluten. One thing I do to help avoid these possible cross-contamination incidents is I keep mine in the box it came in, and keep that inside a cupboard. So I only take it out when I am using it, and then I put it right back (after it cools). No matter how hard we all try, cross contamination can happen...
  22. Thank you so much for this list. I found a few things I'd like to try that don't seem to have soy or even corn, etc, and I was happy to see Polaners fruit spread as gluten-free. So far I have only seen Bonne Maman claiming to be gluten-free.
  23. I can relate to the frustration. Some days I get like that. I try hard to be careful, yet still have problems. I have seen on the Kiss My Face website that all their products are gluten-free. I just ordered a Kiss My face grapefruit bergamot hand lotion from amazon and couldn;t wait to get it. My hands have been so dry that they are sore and sting when...
  24. Thanks for sharing your reviews. About how many drops would you put in a cup of coffee? I am not used to gluten-free baking yet, but that sounds like a nice way to add different flavors. What kind of porridge do you use? So far I have only tried cream of rice, but was wondering what else there might be? I wonder how these would be in cream of rice...
  25. I got an email reply back and yes, the new Artisan Cafe creamers are gluten free and soy free also. This was their reply: "We are pleased to let you know that all three of the Coffee-mate® Artisan Cafe Creamer flavors are labeled as Gluten Free. We consider "gluten free" to mean that no gluten ingredients are in the product, whether directly added,...
