  1. Sarah- I buy Boars Head prosciutto and I have never had a reaction from it. Most Boars Head meats are gluten free as far as I know. I had the manufacturer mail me a list of their gluten-free products and the prosciutto is safe.
  2. Kathy- Are you talking about Vinny Testas? I live right around there and used to always eat there. Did your daughter have any reaction after eating her meal? This is very exciting news!!! Just another restaurant to add to the list of ones that I can eat at and this one is very close. Did she bring in a Celiac card or did you just explain to the server...
  3. Lisa- I take 3 viactiv chews/day for my Osteopenia and do not experience the after taste that you described. I also take a daily multi-vitamin which seems to be fine. I am a Celiac and do not have any side effects from the Viactiv or multi vitamins. Sorry I am of no help.
  4. Neff- I have been gluten-free for about 3 months now and am still in and out of depression. Do you know how long it too you to realize there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you felt better emotionally? I also exercise 4-5 times a week. I would love to know when I am going to get out of this rut that I seem to be stuck in.
  5. What do they look like? I have little blood vessel type things on the back of both of my shoulders. I think I have had them forever, but I just thought it was because I was thin. I have been gluten-free for 3 months now and still have them so I didn't think they were related to Celiac, but I don't know for sure.
  6. I use MAC makeup and it is all gluten-free!
  7. I know that Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein contains gluten but I was wondering if anyone knew if Hydrolyzed Vegetable Oil was okay? It also specified where it was derived from, which was not wheat. I saw this ingredient specifically in Strawberry Cool Whip. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it
  8. There is a list of safe and forbidden ingredients on this website that you can bring with you to the supermarket. I suggest you print them out. There are a lot more ingredients that you need to look for besides just "wheat." It gets a lot easier after the first couple weeks. Then you just know what you can and cannot have, and if you look through this...

  10. I was told by my dietician that caramel coloring is gluten-free as long as it was made in the US. Hope this helps!
  11. Not sure how many of you watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy on Bravo, but last nights episode had a guy who's wife was gluten intolerant. One of the things that he wanted to do was cook a nice romantic meal for his wife. So, Ted took the straight guy to a specialty market to buy all of the gluten-free food and taught him how to make a great dessert!!...
  12. I have only been gluten-free for about 3 months and just recently I started having problems with my eyes. I would wake up in the morning with them crusted shut and they were extremely dry and red in my eye and the skin underneath. I visited a dermatologist who gave me cream to take the redness away but it came right back. I decided to look into this myself...
  13. Well, I found the culprit of my eye problem. The shampoo I was using had wheat in it. It was causing the severe redness under/in my eyes and the dry, puffiness. Needless to say, I threw it away. Weird cause it didn't cause that reaction before I went gluten-free but I guess my body is now having more serious reactions to gluten since cutting it out.
  14. I am so glad this topic was started. I am having a very hard time taking my frustration/anger out in the right way. I believe it is affecting my personal relationships with friends and especially my boyfriend. I get so depressed and angry that I become this person that I am not and it really upsets me. I go through periods where I am fine and then it...

    ARCHIVED Carraba's

Wow! So exciting! You just made my day. Seeing something like that makes me so happy since I can't enjoy going out to eat anymore.
  16. Breyers and Edys both have a lot of gluten-free flavors. If any of them have any wheat/gluten in it, it will be clearly marked on the label. For the most part, they are gluten-free except for the ones with cookies in them.
  17. I have been gluten-free for about 3 months now and have noticed that my eyes are crusty and a little stuck together when I wake up in the morning. I know, sounds gross but it has only been since going gluten-free. They also get very blood shot and I look like I got punched in the face. Haven't seen a doctor for this since I am just sick of going to the...
  18. Thanks so much! I will go to Whole Foods this week and get it. (I don't have a Kroger near me). Very exciting!!! It's the little things
  19. Some people have mentioned San-J Tamari sauce as a substitue for soy sauce. I love soy sauce but am not a big fan of La Choy (which is the only kind that is gluten free). If anyone knows, can you please inform me where I can buy this sauce? Thanks!
  20. I just ate at Chickie and Pete's this weekend and had a great experience. I called in the morning when they were not busy and spoke to one of the chefs who informed me that the crabs, fries, and shrimp would all be fine for me to eat (they use a seperate fryer for their fries). Also, if anyone else is from the philly area and knows any restaurants that...
  21. I went to a restaurant this weekend and they had kosher dill pickles on the table to have while waiting for your meal. Does anyone know if pickles are ok to eat?
  22. Leigh Ann- sounds to me like you have all of the classic symptoms of Celiac. I am not even close to being a doctor but I definitely think that you should get a blood test to see if you have Celiac Sprue and then follow up with an endoscopy to make it conclusive. I am 26 and was just recently diagnosed. I did have some of the symptoms that you are experiencing...
  23. Thank you all so much for your replies. You have really helped to make me feel better about all of this. It is nice to know that the bone loss is reversible and I am now taking Viactiv 3 times a day and I love it. Its like having an after dinner snack (just like Judy said). Wish- thanks for your suggestions on the calcium rich foods that are good. i...
  24. Where can you find that San-J Tamari sauce? I am not a big fan of La Choy either but I love soy sauce. Does the tamari taste like soy sauce?
  25. I eat a lot of rice pudding. Think I am addicted to the stuff it is so good. I also bought Honey Frosted Flakes made by 365 degrees which taste like real frosted flakes and are very tasty. For lunch I find myself eating a lot of salads, tunafish, cheese wrapped in turkey, applesauce, fruit...... I also found out that TCBY (not sure if you have them near...
