I feel the same way - big companies really don't care about us.
Were we will make a differenece is writing and complaining to the FDA.
I have major issue with words like "NATURAL", "natural ingredients", "natural flavoring or natural additives".
For example - Prudue ground turkey, has natual ingredients. I called last year and they told me it's ROSEMARY. I don't have a problem with rosemary in general. But every time I eat their ground turkey, I get reactive. Yesterday I called again. The woman was nice but told me it was a trade secret. I pressed her and told her my daddyO was a friend of Frank (he really was) and that I have life threatening food allergies and I really need to know for medical reasons. She then told me its extracts from rosemary OIL. I didn't know rosemary oil EXTRACT was 'natura'l from the plant and was not processed in anyway.
Is rosemary oil extract a 'natural ingredients"?
Is SOY a natural ingredient? SOY is listed and one of the deadly 8 allergens. Why do they allow the manufacures to mislead us? We have to complain to the FDA.
I have been writing to the FDA and complain that the word NATURAL is used to loosely in the new labeling laws, these new lables need to be modified for people with special medical dietary needs. And WE must STOP them from using the word "NATURAL" in everything from body products to what we eat.
Rosemary oil is a natural product, because you just have to press rosemary leaves (in theory) to get it out. Rosemary is a plant that grows out of the ground, and is therefore natural.
As much as you like to demonize soy, it is also natural. Soy is a plant that grows out of the ground, just like wheat or grass or hemlock or an oak tree. Soy also happens to support much of the agriculture in Arkansas (and other places).
Are their labelling policies great? No. It's a good move to complain to the FDA, and also to your local senators/congressmen.

well crap i took my first dosage with lunch (9:45- because of work) so i have to do them slightly diffrent when should my last dosage be? keep in mind acording to the pills and the pharamasist these cause problems sleeping (even though i feel fricking tired right now)
Personally, and this is just me, but I didn't have problems sleeping with these. For most people, 9:45 is breakfast. The important thing is spacing. For most people, the time between breakfast and dinner is 8-10 hours, so I'd say take your next dose at 8pm or so. That'll do you fine. If you have problems sleeping, take some benadryl and it will help (yes, it's gluten-free).

Since I make my own spaghetti sauce and there's just two of us, we usually end up on a 3 day run of sauce related meals:
Night 1 - Spaghetti
Night 2 - Chicken Parmesan (made with gluten-free breadcrumbs, gluten-free waffles processed work well for this)
Night 3 - Pizza! (I use chebe mix)
Otherwise? Chicken tenders made with potato flakes (known as Nini's chicken
), goulash made with tinkyada macaroni, gluten-free chicken fried steak, stir fry with any combo of meat and veggies, smothered bbq chicken (grilled, with sauce, melted cheese, and mushrooms), souvlaki (with rice and tzaziki sauce), meatloaf (potato flakes instead of breadcrumbs), roast chicken and potatoes, chicken soup, potato soup, mac and cheese made with tinkyada, spanish rice, greek rice...
Possibilites are endless

Thanks Chelse for this info.
Do you have any, and where are they if you do?
You're welcome, and I added more stuff
I have one that I got when I was 17 (my mom had to sign for it, she was going to get one too and chickened out)
It's on the small of my back, and I forget what it looks like because I need two mirrors to see it
It's a swirly black tribal thingy with a blue butterfly on top of it. I had the woman that I babysat for do it. I still really like it, but I think it's only because I only see it when I want to

Hah - I worked in a tattoo shop when I was 13, babysitting the owner's kid. (ok, so it was a wierd job, but I learned a lot!)
Tattoos hurt the least in large, fleshy areas, like your butt
The closer you are to a bone, the more it's going to hurt. This is especially true on end of the extremities (feet, hands), because there are more nerve endings in those areas.
Directly on the spine, it doesn't hurt as bad, but on either side it hurts like hell (from experience
)
Avoid getting tats anywhere that might stretch (stomach, hip, boobs). You know those cute little tattoos girls tend to get on their hip or tummy? Yeah, then they get pregnant and the butterfly turns into a pink bruise
It is possible to have an allergic reaction to the dye, but it's extremely rare. If you go to a reputable place, the needle shouldn't bother you any more than getting a shot. Everyone gets irritation (duh) but it goes away after a week or two, especially if you take good care of it.
When choosing a shop, make sure they have an autoclave (to sterilize tattoo guns, tweezers, tongs, etc.), that they use NEW NEEDLES with every new client, that they use disposable plastic cups for the ink. The work area should look much like a dr's office in terms of sterility, more like a dentist's in terms of tools. Ask to see pictures of tattoos that the artist YOU'RE SEEING did, just after it's done and a few weeks after (after redness goes down) if possible. If possible, ask to watch the artist at work on someone else. A tattoo artist is an ARTIST and their work should reflect that.
Other words to the wise: Don't get anything that requires a lot of white, because it doesn't have great staying power. If it's somewhere that will see sunlight, make sure to use SPF as-high-as-possible on it. Expect to have it retouched every 5-10 years to keep it looking good. Make sure you see both the transfer on paper and when it is transferred to your body to make sure it's exactly what/where you want it. If you have words, make sure they are spelled correctly (especially true if in other languages).
Oh - also- not only do tattoos on the bottoms of your feet or on your palms hurt like hell, they also fade VERY QUICKLY because the skin replenishes itself so often. Tattoo artists often practise on themselves in these areas because of that.

took first dosage at 9:45 when should i take second?? it says it gives problems sleeping and should take early, but i dont wanna take it to early while the other ones are still in effect

All of those ARE gluten-free...do you have other intolerances, such as casien?
Otherwise, I'm a fan of kisses, hugs, skittles, starburst, and sour patch kids

If I remember correctly, he's taken already!
To another celaic, no less!

Personally, I think it's still psychosomatic. You've been staring at these lists of possible side effects for more than a week, and now that you've taken the drug, you think you're having all of the side effects. I know I've done it! And sorry, it sounds like you're definitely still panicking.
Also, if your body temp was rising, you'd be cold, not hot.
And anxiety makes your stomach hurt. That's how ulcers happen

Oh Chelse, I'm so sorry. I imagine your intestinal tract took a severe beating with all of the gluten for so long, so things have to be pretty stirred up. I don't really know much about the spasms (sounds a little bit like Rachel's alien baby), I would think it was from an irritant of some kind? It has to be very frustrating for you. Hopefully as you continue with the gluten-free diet you will heal and see some improvement. Hang in there!
I've had these for 3 or 4 years now. When they first started, I had them about once a week. They eventually tapered off to about where they are now, once every month or two. It's not like the alien baby, it's muscle spasms in my stomach muscle that are INCREDIBLY painful, about an 9 on the smiley face pain scale. I have yet to find a specific trigger, sometimes I can trace it back to something like orange juice, sometimes stress, sometimes irritating foods, but there is never a clear cut trigger. There is no rhyme or reason to it at all, and it never happens the same way twice. This time it could have been from the endoscope and it was a delayed reaction to that irritation, there's no way to know. I've tried diet changes, like no greasy food, carbonated drinks, no acidic food, no caffene, no milk (individually and all at once) and it would still happen. You're right, IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING!!!
Oh, and to add insult to injury, it happens whether or not I'm on gluten. I guess I can make that a more definitive statement on that front after I've been gluten-free for more than a year.
-
Hi Chelse, how is gluten-free life going for you?
Hi Julie
So far, not so good. I feel like hammered sh--! Wednesday night my stomach started to hurt a little (my "aura" for knowing the pyloric spams were coming) so I took a phenergan and hoped for the best. I spent all but 4 hours asleep yesterday, because I had to take 3 more doses of phenergan to get it to stop. I don't know that it's ever been that bad, I was ridiculously weak. Today I started out ok and then about an hour after I got to work my stomach started hurting again and I'm REALLY nauseous. And sleepy. Making it very difficult to actually work. I'm hoping to get stuff done so I can go home and go to bed
I wish I knew what caused the spasms, nobody has been able to figure it out. The anti-spasmodics don't even TOUCH them. So frustrating. I just have to live with having these flares I guess.

Sounds like a panic attack to me.
Also, side effects wouldn't hit until at least an hour after you take them. It takes that long to get into your blood.

Hmmm, my job is being a wife and mom, and considering I came out of college with a husband, I guess my "job" there got me my "job" now!!
Yeah, I basically came out of college with an $80,000 MRS degree
And I'm good at planning stuff. And my degree (Poli Sci) made me cynical and able to BS anything. Yup, that was worthwhile
Well, if I hadn't gone to that college, I wouldn't have met my husband, so I guess it was worth it
It was apparently also worthwhile for DH, since I ask him if it was every month when he writes that student loan check
-
Yea, classes sure got in the way of college, didn't they?!
AMEN!!!
I found that everything BUT classes were useful. Then again, I worked very hard at my job in college, which got me the job I'm in now!

Pizza made with chebe mix for me tonight
Red bag of chebe, and then cooked on a baking stone. Tastes just like the real thing
Unfortunately my baking stone is glutenated, but I solve that problem by using parchment paper over it. Makes it safe and really easy to take out of the oven

the dosage for the first 4 days seems really high, to treat something that he is not sure if i have or not. alright well i guess i can start them at 9:45 with my lunch break. i just really hope my immune system wont get shut down to much incase i did get wnv from the camping trip (the camp site seriusly is under warning for it(did not know that until i got home and it was all over the paper) )
They start you out strong on the prednisone. I think I had to take four or six pills the first few days I was on it, and then it tapered (it was a 7 day course). It won't shut down your immune system. You are going to worry yourself sick. Also, predisone helps any inflammation, so your doctor is right in perscribing them if you're having irriation. If you're not going to follow your doctor's advice, then why bother going to the doctor to begin with?
-
yeah but the pharamsee was really confused as to why he perscribed 18 extra pills... so i would think he should clarify. im going to start the pills sheesh. just waiting tell 2pm i dont wanna start them at work incase they do make me dizzy. i can deel with dizzy at home but not when im on my feet for 9 hours
Just because his orders confused the 18 year old pharmacy tech does not mean he perscribed them incorrectly. There are different courses of prednisone ranging from 7 days to months. I agree with Carla, make sure you're taking the pills before you call him!! Doctors can be clueless in many areas, but they're usually pretty good at perscribing meds.
By the way, I don't think the pharmacy is supposed to give an opinion about the meds. If they had a legitimate question about the perscription, they would call your doctor to clarify.
-
Lister, relax and take the damn prednisone. Seriously. Your doctor is going to be pissed that you haven't started them yet. It's prednisone, not cyanide. Your only reaction to the drugs will very likely be bloating and increased appetite. Pharmacies can only legally perscribe meds exactly as written. Calm down.

The results are in...the biopsy was....
NORMAL!
Not surprising. I have to go back to the GI in 6 weeks to follow up, they told me I need to be gluten-free long-term anyway so the biopsy results really don't matter. I think I'm still going to say I'm celiac because 1: I don't want to look like a wishy-washy, I diagnosed myself with the disease du jour (though I guess I'm formally dx'ed) and 2: it'll make life easier for explaining.
Hmm, my small intestine was "a little red", I wonder why that would be?
I don't consider it a waste of time, because at least now I know what would have happened if I got the biopsy, because I did
-
its prednisone that im taking is that the same? im just confused as to how to take them, the bottle says for 18 days and tells you how many to take each day, but the doctor said i was taken it for 2 weeks not for more then 2 weeks?? what do i do?
The pharmacy filled the drug as it was perscribed by your doctor. You have to wean off it slowly, so that is probably why it's 18 days and not 14...
TAKE THE DRUGS EXACTLY AS PERSCRIBED!!!!
Prednisone is a great drug that also has a scary side as you pointed out. Steroids are not perscribed lightly. I think you need to trust your dr. on this.

Awesome!!! I love Dinosaur!!!!

wow, if those legs weren't so tan and skinny, I would've had to say that was me at the dorms in college!
I get mad at people who hover....They get pee everywhere! All over the seat, the floor....everywhere! Way grosser than just other people's butt meat on the seat...I mean really...the dirty part is in the open hole!
