ARCHIVED New Cosmetic Website
LaurieAnn13 replied to suziew's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are Ulta stores too, I have one right near my house. It was the first place I was able to find Bare Essentuals until a Sephora opened last summer. They have a great selection! -
ARCHIVED What Starbucks Dirnks Are Gluten-free?
LaurieAnn13 replied to amber-rose's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love Starbucks!! Last time I checked everything was gluten-free (except like CarlaB said the malted ones and they have a brownie frap that actually has brownie pieces in it). That being said if you want to order a frap, they suggest you ask the barista to really wash out the blender because a lot of times they just kind of rinse them, thus posing the... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Savonnerie
LaurieAnn13 replied to Yenni's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I ordered the sampler pack a week or so ago and it was a flat rate of $3.99. I ordered it on Monday and got it on Thursday...I thought that was pretty quick! Most of their stuff seems pretty good so far. The shampoo is hard to get used to since, like they said above, it does not really foam. The shea butter is AWESOME!!! -
Ursula and Ravenwoodglass - Thanks so much for the replies! I guess I'll look into meeting with a homeopathic doctor or a nutritionist next! Laurie

ARCHIVED Have You Seen Dental Enamel Defects From Celiac?
LaurieAnn13 replied to chrissy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I work at a dentist's office, and in the past two years I have seen about three patients with celiac disease, none of whom have had significantly bad dental problems. I have always had really good teeth also (knock on wood!)and I was not diagnosed until I was 21. But as we all know, this disease affects everyone different so you never know. I agree... -

ARCHIVED Cat Food
LaurieAnn13 replied to myserenityprayer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are some types of Science Diet that are prescription and are only available from a vet. Regular Science Diet foods are available at PetSmart and PetCo.... Laurie -
ARCHIVED Gluten Joke On Letterman Sept 19, '06
LaurieAnn13 replied to skbird's topic in Publications & Publicity
I say at least it's publicity, something that may get people thinking. The way I see it, most jokes have the potential to offend someone. It's not really any different than a blonde joke or a gender joke. Laurie -
ARCHIVED Boulder, Estes Park, Co Restaurants Needed
LaurieAnn13 replied to ArtC's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Although I have not been there personally, I have heard about a gluten-free chinese restaurant in Nederland, which is right in that area. Also, there is an ice cream place on Pearl Street (in Boulder) that has gluten-free ice cream. Have not been there either (and don't know the names either, sorry!!!!), but I had a friend who lived up there and highly... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Dog Food? ;o)
LaurieAnn13 replied to Yenni's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Getting a little bit off the subject, does anyone know about good cat foods that are gluten-free? I guess I'll check out that web site too and see if he has any on there.... Thanks Laurie -
ARCHIVED Dasani
LaurieAnn13 replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think dasani water tastes weird so I do not really ever drink it (I'm very picky about water, yeah, I know, I'm weird!) But, I think it is awesome that you wrote them!! I think it would be so cool if we all saturated the market with letters to tons of companies. I think this would get the point across to some stubborn companies so they would finally... -
I also suffer from depression when I ingest gluten. I suffered horribly from it before I was diagnosed with celiac. Within a year of going gluten-free, I was able to stop all my meds and have not had a problem since (except when I get glutened, of course; and then it's pretty mild, comparatively). Laurie

Kristen - I can certainly relate to what you are going through. A few months ago I started having migraines again after five years of being gluten-free with no problems. I started taking a closer look at what I had been eating and found out that there was a seasoning that I was using that has gluten in it! I don't know how that happened because usually...

ARCHIVED I'm Starting A Support Group/help Group
LaurieAnn13 replied to BamBam's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I think it's a great idea, it would have been SO helpful when I was first diagnosed!!! I actually have never bought gluten-free stuff off the internet, but have just started looking into it. There is a whole big gluten-free world I never knew existed, simply because I just never felt I needed to check it out. I always thought that living in Denver (a... -
ARCHIVED Test Results
LaurieAnn13 replied to Lillyth's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would agree, if you seem to be benefiting from the gluten-free diet then stay with it. Your body is your best indicator. A problem I've run into is how some doctors really aren't that educated when it comes to celiac disease. After all, look at EVERYTHING that can go wrong with the human body...doctors are only human, they can't know everything about... -
ARCHIVED Dry Hands
LaurieAnn13 replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
FYI - I had been using Vaseline Intensive Care Total Moisture for dry skin and it contains "Avena Sativa (oat)" so I don't think all the vaseline lotions are gluten-free... -
I also have done pilates and yoga - I love them both! It does take time to get the breathing and moving coordination down, but even I (a huge klutz) have managed it!! The nice thing about both of these is that they are designed for people to go at their own pace and physical ability level. I also own my own exercise ball and I would say you can't beat...

Thanks for all the honest replies! That's basically how I was feeling, but thought I would check and see what some fellow celiac's thought... P.S. jerseyangel - cute kitty! -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Just Have Celiac Only?
LaurieAnn13 replied to Moongirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So far, it's only celiac for me also.... Thank God!!! I was diagnosed when I was 21, sounds like that is fairly young?! -
ARCHIVED Juice Plus Nutritional Supplements
LaurieAnn13 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My sister-in-law has just recently started selling these products and keeps asking me to try them. She has checked into them and they have it written down that the products are gluten-free, however alot of them contain barley germ or barley bran, and oat germ or oat bran, something like that, though I can't remember EXACLTY what they were. She even called... -
ARCHIVED Corn Tortilla
LaurieAnn13 replied to Cin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use mission corn tortillas too, I always try to support the brands that support us by telling us they are gluten free! I use them for everything since our bread just doesn't do it for me... I really like putting turkey breast with cheese and mustard on a tortilla, Also, I find they are really good as a breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, salsa... -
ARCHIVED Green Mountain Gringo Salsa
LaurieAnn13 replied to terri's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat MISSION brand corn tortillas all the time. They are really good AND it says Gluten Free right on the back of the package!!!! -
I ate there last month, and at the particular one that I went to the manager was really helpful. He brought out ingredients book that they have and showed me the ingredients of the things I was interested in (most of their stuff seemed to have wheat). I ended up getting salmon plain with unseasoned veggies. He promised he would personally make sure that...
