ARCHIVED New Celiac Needing Help
celiac3270 replied to Peggy33's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Of course, you could just call the company to find out if it's gluten-free from them.....I really think it is, but I'd feel horrible if I poisoned you, so check it out. -
ARCHIVED New Celiac Needing Help
celiac3270 replied to Peggy33's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Generally with soda: If you e-mail Coca-Cola, they'll e-mail you their gluten-free list. ALL Pepsi products are gluten-free. I'm pretty sure that Mountain Dew is a Pepsi product and therefore, it is gluten-free..... -
ARCHIVED Why Are Some Topics Pinned?
celiac3270 replied to soul04's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Well, I think it's that some moderators move the topic, but then when the move it, they have to go find the topic again to pin it, cause it just takes you to the topic's original forum. Therefore, it can be a pain to find the topic again, once you move it or a mod. might forget. That's why I always make sure I have the topic open twice before moving it... -
ARCHIVED Why Are Some Topics Pinned?
celiac3270 replied to soul04's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Topics can be moved, then pinned. Topics cannot, however, be pinned, then moved because pinning a topic secures where it will be located on the board. -
Many Suave products are gluten-free

The first day of school was great -- and the second, today...........I'm getting back in my study-nerd-workaholic mode without any trouble..lol ...anyway, in my school of about 320, there were three celiacs. One kid who is three years younger than I am (gluten-free over a year), a kid who was in the eighth grade last year and is now at some secondary school...

Jill, the people that are telling you that are probably the ones who are healthy and don't have to deal with celiac disease or anything like it. I feel very -- different and isolated and self-conscious in any situation with peers in which food is involved -- not so much at school where I have a gluten-free lunch of fish or chicken that's made for me and...

ARCHIVED Stomache Bloating/gas Daily
celiac3270 replied to campcour's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm gluten-free 7 months with bad symptoms -- not so much gas as vomiting/stomach pains -- sorry I can't help, but I'm in the same boat in terms of length of time (almost) passed w/o feeling better -
ARCHIVED Protein Powder And/or Protein Snack Bars
celiac3270 replied to lisa922's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Lisa, I believe that wheat and barley grasses are gluten-free....I think Tiffany explained it recently--something about the harmful seeds or something that should fall out at a certain point. However, they're all picked at the same time, even if some contain the harmful thing in the plant, or whatever, so therefore the barley/wheat grasses are technically... -
Although you don't need to be careful about milk (whole, fatfree, etc.), you do need to take caution in buying lactose-free or some other special milk. Those can contain gluten.

ARCHIVED How Do You Do It?
celiac3270 replied to Cait6799's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yeah, I've used a thermos (not for school), but other places and I find that spaghetti and macaroni and cheese stay hot from the morning until when I eat--even if that happens to be 1:00..........try it. -
ARCHIVED Oats
celiac3270 replied to lilliexx's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There is a high likelihood that oats are contaminated. First off, they are often grown in fields that previously grew wheat or barley. Here's what the celiac.com safe/forbidden ingredient list had to say about oats: There are many articles on celiac.com about oats, but here is one that refers to contamination in particular as could occur through fields... -
When I was diagnosed I first checked the internet for information, but also went to the New York Public Library.......nothing.....I think that the web is a much better source of information

ARCHIVED Wheatgrass?
celiac3270 replied to pturse's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think Richard was saying that technically it is okay.....the problem is with contamination, which is so likely that it's not worth taking that risk. On its own and guaranteed free of contamination, wheatgrass would be all right.....I guess it's sort of similar to oats....they think that oats are okay (but it's debatable), however most brands of oats are... -
ARCHIVED Help Please
celiac3270 replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
After vomiting, it's impossible to get the taste out of your mouth by brushing -- you still taste it in your throat. Usually I would drink a softdrink like Sunkist to wash the taste away, but I'm trying to avoid the sugar/carbonation combination, so I tried an altoid (gluten-free)........it happened to be the peppermint kind and it actually helped a little... -
Thanks again, everyone .....I am even more happy that I'm going to get this done Monday, now. Like Mariann said, "Monday just can't come soon enough". In the past I got abdominal pains and vomiting...once every 3-7 days......now, for the past seven days, I have had abdominal pains -- not much vomiting -- a little last night, but I'm not used to seven...

ARCHIVED So Much To Deal With Right Now...
celiac3270 replied to Niteyx13's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No, my mom did the tramflap, cause she wanted it to be from her own skin, muscles, etc., rather than something fake in her.......just scared of any complications that could occur from something artificial, I think. Oh, and I PMed you her e-mail address. -
I've had those PB cookies....they are good......icing is a great idea

ARCHIVED Need Some Advice
celiac3270 replied to mat4mel's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Good idea....I am having my biopsy on the 13th just to check what's going on down there....I've already has a formal medical diagnosis through both bloodwork and biopsy, but because of my persistent symptoms after nearing seven months on the diet, they want to check everything out...... -

ARCHIVED Need Some Advice
celiac3270 replied to mat4mel's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Definitely not about amount of gluten...bulgar is like pure wheat............it's better to have that than bread, cause if you eat bread, you could be having a reaction from something else in it (yeast, dairy, something......) -
Thanks for the article...........what's funny is that I was born in Jan...........the dead of winter ............of course, there are exceptions.........

ARCHIVED Safe Snacks For The Kiddies
celiac3270 replied to kirst4588's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I thought there might be a gluten problem with the minis, but maybe not.......like Mariann said, you should call to ask if you'd like to have those as well. Duncan Hines has icing that happens to be gluten-free........their "cream cheese" kind doesn't taste like cream cheese as the name suggests, but is the most amazing icing that I have had and a few...
