  1. I don't know if sleep problems occur when coming off of gluten, but there is a sleep section here; it seems that sleep problems exist with celiacs, but I don't know if it's more common in celiacs than non-celiacs. I have heard of people having blistery rashes on their feet....I think there's a thread on this somewhere. Also, although you're feeling better...

  3. Congratulations, William! It's great that you can now get him on a gluten-free diet.......now, assuming that he has celiac disease, he can start to heal.....
  4. Interesting.........that sort of confused me, too.......that a corn gluten could be gluten-free......I would've immediately thought that it was bad, kind of like one might think that buckwheat or maltodextrin is bad.
  5. Also, if anyone wants information to contact Haagen-Dazs: Open Original Shared Link 800 767-0120
  6. Yay! I just got something from Haagen-Dazs in the mail! First off, the typical letter (thank you for sharing your "comments", etc.). However, they also enclosed a list of every single flavor they have (ice cream, sorbet, bars, frozen yogurt, etc.). Anyway, most of the flavors are gluten-free.....except for the ones that have the letter G next to them...
  7. Wow........that's one of the most cruel gluten stories I've heard......that is absolutely.........intolerable.......I seriously think I would've completely blown up if someone made such comments to me (genetic, Kim being difficult, etc.)......I don't really have words to describe how.......mad that gets me.......and I'm not even the one who had this done...
  8. Is this wax okay for celiacs? It's not a matter of canning, here, but just for........regular eating? I would think so cause nobody ever said that you need to be careful of it, but I just want to be sure...........
  9. I think it might have been the tomato sauce, Mariann..........although I still have symptoms, eliminating the tomato sauce has helped make the digestion process easier on my body. I'm not sure if the cheese caused a reaction......I guess that might've happened, too (intestines couldn't handle the dairy, acid, AND gluten at the same time).
  10. Technically, you do not need to use gluten-free lotions, shampoos, etc. However, many like to have a gluten-free shampoo in the event that it gets in their eyes or mouth, a gluten-free lotion since they might touch something after putting on the lotion, etc........so technically you don't need it, although for contamination purposes it can't hurt.
  11. I'd say that's good enough.........pizza was the one gluten thing that ALWAYS caused a reaction....I didn't get one after my morning bagel or anything, but pizza always triggered it.......must be loaded. Additionally, ask him if he wants anything special that has gluten--a candy, cookie dough ice cream, etc.........make it his last gluten feast, I guess...
  12. I completely agree.....it used to KILL me to see bagels or pizza...........now they actually make me feel sick just looking at them........very unpleasant......I think that's cause I now know what they've done to me.
  13. I don't know if it has caramel color in it.........caramel color can contain gluten, but doesn't always. For example, Coca-cola and Pepsi both have caramel color.....both are gluten-free......it all depends on what the caramel color is derived from.....actually, lemme go check if it has caramel color...........okay: "colored with carmine"......is that caramel...
  14. Tiffany, It was very interesting to read your account of how you did your elimination diet and also the way you kept such a strict diary of every little thing. It sounds like something that would be good to start doing.......elimination diet will come if I get over a year with symptoms and absolutely fed up.......no matter how hard it is for me to give...
  15. Eiew.......I don't like the sound of wheat gluten free.........wheat/gluten free is a different story, but I think it's horribly sneaky to do that if it contains other glutens such as rye gluten, barley gluten, etc......if that is the case, that's a really malicious thing to do to people who NEED to avoid this stuff for health reasons. I hope that it really...
  16. Yeah.....I was thinking that with the names........I haven't called them yet, but will let you know when I do
  17. I think a lot of the problems people have aren't with the gluten-free diet, but with symptoms, other complications, or diets that are restricted even further (no casein, lactose, nuts, soy, dairy, corn, etc). My problems revolve around symptoms--other than that, I'd be fine
  18. You can't be mildly celiac, but I think the doctor meant "borderline celiac"....you can't be mildly celiac, but you can be borderline with diagnosis............I can see where "mildly" would throw you off, though.
  19. I have a nine-year-old brother who also has the gene, but is negative to celiac. We did bloodwork with two different labs, with one test with one lab, two with the other or something.....so there was no chance of a lab screw up. Anyway, he, too, will probably develop celiac disease later in life.........I don't think that will be a big deal for him, though...
  20. Open Original Shared Link This is a link to another gum post........I haven't read the whole thing, but Molly (flagbabyds) mentioned Altoid gum..........in a later discussion about altoids, we recognized altoids as being gluten-free and somebody asked about Altoid gum. Molly thought it was gluten-free, somebody else said it can't be cause it has wheat...

You can find all new posts easiest in two ways: - When you get to the site, go to the bar towards the top whree you have the option to log out, use my controls, search the board, etc. There is a button there that says "view new posts". Click on that and it will take you to all the posts that came after your last visit to the board. - When you're at...
  22. Open Original Shared Link The above is a link to a thread on gluten-free gums..........the only one I question on this list is the "altoid gum" that Molly chews. Later, in another thread, somebody asked if Altoids are gluten-free, which they are. However, they also asked if altoid gum was gluten-free.....Molly (flagbabyds) said it was, but somebody else...
