  1. WOW!!! Hold on a second...I know that reg. Reese's and the white chocolate ones are gluten-free, but I thought that the Reese's Pieces contained gluten! Anyone know?
  2. I've heard about some "Bob's Red Mill" (or similar) flour...this way you don't need many different flours. One common baking ingredient is xanthan gum, but I would suggest using mixes at the beginning -- some of them can be really delicious and amazing. Kathy made some good cross-contamination suggestions. Get new pots, pans, toaster oven, wooden spoons...
  3. Foods By George English Muffins
  4. I'm 13.......have been on diet for 6 months.....there are a lot of teens here with celiac disease, particularly 17-20 year-olds.
  5. It was kinda interesting.........I didn't really think it'd hold up, but was interested how many June celiacs we had here.........this did seem rather unbelievable, but I gave it a try!
  6. To anyone trying the Chebe pizza: do not buy the pizza crust mix; the regular bread mix works MUCH better. Thank you to everyone who took my suggestions
  7. This raised a lot of conversation on other boards/groups I visit....how many of you were born in June? I was born in Jan., but quite a few mentioned being born in June....or experiencing problems affiliated with their birth month. I was born in January. My mom, (april) has arthritis; one of the things listed under her month. It's pretty interesting, I...
  8. Judy, Really glad to hear that it took seven months and then you were better. From what I had read, it seemed to me that symptoms either left really quickly (0-3 months) or else took at least a year. I'm glad to hear that somebody felt better after 7 months; I hope I do! My new doc. gives me a lot of hope, too.......he seems to be really knowledgable...
  9. I heard about this, too...
  10. The Hershey's syrup is fine and vanillin is fine.....
  11. Stonyfield Plain yogurt is gluten-free Yoplait Custard Style yogurt is gluten-free (and pretty good....that's the yogurt I've been eating)
  12. Yeah......I've always thought (or rather, since diagnosis thought) that it would be really cool to write a book on celiac disease.........I'm not going to try anything for a few years, but it sounds like a cool idea.
  13. Fairways (huge store) has regular food downstairs and an organic/gluten-free section on the second floor--it's fabulous.....huge selection and since it's a grocery store, not a healthfood store, the prices are so much better!
  14. I like Tinkyada much more than my old pastas.........if it has a "rice noodle taste" then I like rice noodles a lot!
  15. Sure, it can come and go...... I'm 13 and going into eighth grade...anyway, my symptoms have been strongly present since 1st grade, but 5th grade was a pretty bad year. Then, in 6th grade I was fine....only sick maybe once all year....it was amazing. It turns out that celiac disease symptoms often subside around the start of adolesence. People actually...
  16. Well, I know that the gluten would not be absorbed through the scalp. Gluten molecules are too large to be absorbed through the skin. Obviously, a shampoo should be gluten-free.....after all, it could get in your mouth, eyes, etc. I had actually been thinking about that lately, cause I thought I had read to be careful about it, but didn't remember why...
  17. Every crumb, every little bit matters! It isn't that difficult to keep things separate; it just requires thinking and being conscious. I have my own PB jar, own cooking things (pot, frying pan, spatula, spoon, whisk, toaster oven). The toaster oven is really no big deal; it's a matter of investing a few dollars towards your health in the future. My toaster...
  18. Sounds like me.... .....it drives my parents and my brother CRAZY.....I constantly wash my hands, as well, and I often try to stay away from someone eating gluten, stay away from any crumbs, I'm kinda a nut, but my mom is really accepting of it; after all, she says: "You're the one dealing with the symptoms and the pain, not me." Anyway, just wanted to...
  19. I know....I loved Tinkyada
  20. My dietician said that it's safest to chew Wrigley's...and it seems like others, jaimek, had the same experience. I have chewed it, but I don't know if it gave me trouble because my symptoms haven't gone away....I haven't chewed it recently...anyway, I didn't notice any correlation between chewing the gum and getting sick. Rian, are you asking how to...
  21. Open Original Shared Link -- this is a good link to get good ideas of what products are gluten-free.....you do, however, as with all lists, have to be careful. All products are subject to change at any time, so you should always double-check with the company. Open Original Shared Link -- this is on the Open Original Shared Link website....a list of mainstream...
  22. Yep.....definitely.....here's a link to a past thread on this: Open Original Shared Link
  23. Eating less more frequently is a good idea in theory, but would be difficult for me to do. When you go to school from 8:00-4:30, and there's one lunch period, it's kinda hard--let me rephrase that--impossible to squeeze in five or six little meals. How about Ensure? All flavors are gluten-free.......has a lot of nutrients, but I don't know if it'd have...
