  1. Sorry, I just got home...that's the one I have -celiac3270
  2. There is a package to make a gluten-free cake...I'm not making this post from home, so I can't remember the name, but as soon as I get home, I'll check and post it...I'll get back to you. -celiac3270
  3. Some marshmallows are gluten-free. Sorry, I don't remember which are (off the top of my head). I have some at home, actually, but I'm not posting from there as I usually do. I'll get back to you later. Savvvyseller, you got an e-mail back? I sent mine quite a while ago, and still didn't get a response...oh well, as long as somebody got a reply from...
  4. I know....at my school, which consists of maybe...340 kids, there are three Celiacs (including myself). One is three years younger than me, one a year older than me. The younger one's mother has Celiac. Plus, my computer teacher's wife's mother has Celiac...it seems like everyone knows somebody who has it...and yet nobody knows what it is....pathetic....
  5. More gluten-free icecream: Haagen Dasz -- most flavors are gluten-free (strawberry, chocolate, vanilla....stick with the basics to be safe)...of course, cookie dough isn't gluten-free...etc. Soy Delicious -- I'm trying to keep my dairy limited....if you're avoiding lactose/dairy, Soy Delicious has a neapolitin that's gluten-free....that's the only flavor...
  6. I've never been extremely underweight to the point where it's dangerous or anything, but I have always been thinner than I would have liked to have been. I also was not diagnosed that early in childhood (at 13 years old I was diagnosed...). However, I do have some encouragement to offer. First off, it is common not to gain any weight when starting the...
  7. Even of Kraft products you need to read the labeling...they won't write in bold letters on the front of the container: DOES NOT CONTAIN WHEAT. However, flavorings are usually questionable as to being gluten-free or not and you need to call the company. With Kraft however, all flavorings and colorings are gluten-free unless they specifically write (in parens...
  8. Hi, I've heard Kinnikinninick is the best...from practically every Celiac...I've never tried it. However, if your father wants something that tastes just like the regular white bread you can get in a store, try the Ener-G white rice loaf. If you want a good raisin bread, Glutino makes a "corn bread with raisins". This does not mean that it tastes like...
  9. No problem....it's really nice to get quick answers to your questions...especially in beginning. It's also helpful to post on the board cause I learn so many new things that I can then use myself or pass along to those new to the board. Thanks for the compliments. -celiac3270
  10. Great! Thanks! I just checked for the list you found on the site. I guess that was a rather dumb post to make w/o actually looking...gosh, I'm getting lazy on my research here.... -celiac3270
  11. Skippy is gluten-free (I use it) Jif is gluten-free Reese's PB is gluten-free (I've heard)
  12. Hi, my question is pretty straightforward. I just thought of this...I know that gluten-free hotdogs exist: what brands are gluten-free? I would have known this by now, but never really thought about hotdogs since starting the gluten-free diet...wow...it's amazing how you can forget about foods like that....thanks in advance for any responses. -celiac...
  13. Just one thing about this poll: it might be hard to get an accurate reading of this because it is more likely that if you come to this section of the board that you have sleep problems than that you don't...therefore, you could be missing out on many "no" votes....of course, there's no way, of course, to prevent this from happening.... -celiac3270
  14. You have no idea how familar that sounds to me!!!! I have found that I get nervous and stressed when my stomach starts to hurt too....I've been gluten-free for only 19 weeks, and am, also, happy to see the imporvement, but fed up with getting sick. When I was diagnosed, it spread pretty quickly among the faculty...in a private school of a little...
  15. Whenever I get sick (still getting symptoms, but no accidents), I get really emotional....and during school, with tests, homework, and notes to miss, I got anxious. When I was sick, I was anxious about missing stuff, and when I wasn't sick, (especially before being diagnosed) I got anxious about when I might get sick again.... ....I guess the only thing...
  16. Hi, I would recommend taking something, if only a multivitamin. I take a mulitvitamin, but also some calcium pill (my diet doesn't have enough calcium to begin with). In addition, my doctor (for celiac disease) prescribed a "folic acid" -- I think it's supposed to help to absorb nutrients, or something. It's up to you, but I'd recommend it -- it's a good...
  17. That's disgusting! . Why is it so hard to keep a factory clean...after all, if my family can keep an apartment clean and free of roaches with no difficulty, why can't a commercial factory, with all its employees, stay clean? It's ridiculous...I think it's just laziness on the food manufacturers' part.....YUCK! As for the rest of these examples: yuck...
  18. Hi, I searched on the internet and also sent the company an e-mail...the company will write back and if you haven't called them yet, I'll post the response here. While searching the net, I came up with some webpage made on tripod that said that included Mike & Ike in a gluten-free candy list. I also found another list on the internet that said that...
  19. Good point...true.....I knew about that, but had forgotten about it......technically Celiac is a "disability" so therefore, we aren't allowed in the military. It does get much easier...you start to learn which ingredients are good or bad, you learn which brands of foods taste terriffic and which are horrible, symptoms lessen (if you had them at the...
  20. Hi Eddie, I've typed out this post and it's been erased twice! I'm so infuriated!!! I twice wrote a paragraph about how nobody really understands celiac disease except those who have it so it's nice to be able to talk (or write) to people who understand (or come close to understanding) what you're going through with Celiac....etc. I'm not going to get...
  21. Mother's Side: Lots of Swiss and Swedish Father's Side: Some Irish, some English, and some other stuff
  22. Back, I checked the board for alcoholic beverages since that seems to upset you, as well: check the products/shipping/medications section on the board; they have a section on gluten-free beer: I took some info. from there to post here, but would advise you to view the entire thread: People there are also debating whether or not "Amstel...
  23. You are supposed to maintain a regular gluten-filled diet (or more gluten-filled if you wish)....
  24. I'm confused...why did you get sick to your stomach? Did you eat the bread even though it contained gluten or do you think it was cross-contamination? I know you get hives from allergies, but celiac disease isn't an allergy.....I haven't had that problem....
  25. You called about Quaker Mini Rice Cakes....when I called about the normal-sized ones, they said that ALL brands are gluten-free (white cheddar, peanut butter, buttered popcorn, etc.).
