granny posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I just got word that a new gluten-free Brewery will be opening in the Fall on 2006. I do not work for them and never have, but one of the owner's has celiac and has been brewing their own beer for awhile now. Their website is www.darkhillsbrewery.com and you can read about them there. Just wanted to get the word out that there will be a new source... -

Hi Guys, I used to use Gas-X and can't remember why I switched to Phazyme. Is Gas-X gluten-free? Also, is Sorbitol the ingredient in toothpaste that causes some people to have gas? It is in the Gas-X and it rang a bell in my head and it seems like it was the ingredient in toothpaste. I'd sure appreciate your help if you can answer either of these questions...

Hi Luka, I don't know if that's what my sugery was called but I also went to the ER and had exploratory surgery after a very painful afternoon and night. They found that my small intestines had twisted and an adheasion had become entangled into the mess. After taking out 3 1/2 feet of my intestines to clear out the tangle and to clear out the gangreen that...

ARCHIVED Begining To Doubt Cd
granny replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Vincent, I'm not an expert by any means but, I've read that it takes adults a lot longer to heal than children. The fact that your biopsy was not positive may be that they didn't get the biopsy at the place where the damage was. There are also lots of false neg. on blood tests. I don't think 2 mo. is long enough a test for an adult and hope you will give... -
ARCHIVED Chocolate Thunder From Down Under
granny replied to liljules5's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Cherbear, Thanks for the recipe. I recently went to Outback for the first time and had a blast! The waiter was great and after a wonderful meal, I had the Thunder Down Under and it was so good. My granddaughters helped me eat it and we wanted to make it at home. I truely don't think just an ordinary Borwnie would do the trick. granny -
ARCHIVED L-glutamine
granny replied to Emme999's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey Michel, don't take it personally, we all get busy and don't read every day. I found your info very interesting and I actually have some of the L-glutimine and tried it. I was having a hard time and it got worse so decided to stop it for awhile. I may try it again now that I'm doing better. granny -

granny replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Vincent, Thanks for the recipe. I can 't wait for the zucchini to get large enough. I had just purchased my first bag of sorghum flour and now I'm ready. I love your sites and found the nature pics beautiful. May I have your permission to use them for puzzels? I love working puzzels on my computer and am always on the look-out for new pics to use. ... -
ARCHIVED Baking Hamburger Buns
granny replied to granny's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Vincent, I just found this and wanted to ask how high they rose up after smashing them. I finally gave up and purchased the mini-spring form pans from Wal-Mart and they turned out better. I paid special attention to keeping the center lower as I loaded each pan and only one peaked on me. I think your idea of smashing them in a great one. granny I love... -

ARCHIVED Baking Hamburger Buns
granny replied to granny's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Vincent, Thanks for putting the link info here. I feel so dense sometimes but have to hope my son has time to help me with stuff like that. He's my teacher and with 2 adult daughters and a granddaughter of his own, he doesn't always have time to teach me these new things. Oh, he's a truck driver and is only here on week-ends. I hope you like these... -
ARCHIVED Baking Hamburger Buns
granny replied to granny's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Donna, thanks for the suggestion. Sometimes the simplest thing can allude us. I never even thought of doing that. I tried them again today with a lower oven temp and they were better but one still peaked. I guess 1 out of 5 isn't bad. I think I will try making the dough a little thicker next time. Thanks again, granny -
ARCHIVED Baking Hamburger Buns
granny replied to granny's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Vincent, I can tell you to go to the site index on the first page of this site. Choose the 9th item: recipes and cooking tips or something similar. Then click the 3rd item: Biscuits, rolls, and buns. It's in the next window: hamburger and hot dog buns. I'm not really good on the computer so this is the easiest way to tell you, for me. If you meant something... -
ARCHIVED Mucous - When Does It End?
granny replied to GFManiac's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Merika and Dessa, Thank you so much!! I've been having problem with mucus in stool for several days and was really concerned. I've never been able to figure it out when it happens and Never thought of the allergy connection. The pollens are horrible here at this time of year and I've had to be outside more than usual. Thanks again. granny -
Hi, I've tried baking buns using the recipe on this site and love the flavor. I have used several cans and tried just placing the dough on a cookie sheet. It all gives me something to hold a burger in but most are very pointed in the center, like a volcano. I'm wondering if my oven is too hot or does anyone have any other suggestions. This doesn't affect...

ARCHIVED Progresso Soup/ General Mills Cereals Llt
granny replied to granny's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Jessica, celiac3270 and Kaiti, thanks so much for the replies. I feel fine this morning so I guess it wasn't a Gluten reaction. I have come to blame all upset stomaches on Celiac, I guess. I'm so glad it wasn't the soup because I eat a lot of it too and had recommended it to others. I love meat smothered in the mushroom soup-Yum. I was really upset... -
ARCHIVED Progresso Soup/ General Mills Cereals Llt
granny posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi everyone, I've read that Progresso Soup will state if it contains Gluten. I tried a new flavor tonight,Creamy Chicken Wild Rice and got very sick! I noticed that it didn't show the normal ConAg as manufactor , but had Gen. Mills Cereal instead. I really wanted to try it and so I did, big mistake. I couldn't keep my eyes open after about 20 min. and... -

VERY WELL SAID, Jessica. Granny Wow!! I read Jessica's answer and just replied before I found all the other great replies. A big Huray to all the wonderful people on this board. I have been at this for 1 1/2 yrs. and learn daily and was told the very first thing that "the only dumb question, is the one that is Not asked!" It was encouraging then... -
Kristy, From what I understand any spice is fine as long as it is from some of the mentioned companies. I use McCormick all the time. The thing we have to be careful of is that some companies use wheat flour, or wheat something, to keep the spice running free so it's best to use recommended companies that don't do that. Use care with combined spices or mixes...

Thank you, thank you!!! I was doing the same thing as Mariann and had started visiting other sites, even tho this is my favorite, in desperation. The back botton had become so-o-o slow. Now I can enjoy my favorite site again. You are a great help to those of us who are learning; the computer, as well as about gluten-free living. Granny
