  1. Christmas Eve we do appetizer type stuff. My sister makes a really good pizza rolled in the refrigerator dough you buy at the store. The dough is rolled out, filling placed and then rolled into a pinwheel and baked. It is then sliced.

Does anyone have a gluten free pizza crust dough that can be rolled out? Thanks so much.

Now that I'm thinking about it, what I'm looking for is more of a bread dough (not pizza) that can be rolled as that is what my sister uses in her recipe.

  3. Glad to know about a tortilla press. I've been working on breads and cakes (happy with those now) and need to work on pizza crust and especially tortillas. I'm trying to do all gluten-free meals for the family (only my son is celiac). We got tired of saying, sorry when he would ask for a bite of our stuff. Poor guy. It is way better being all gluten-free. I bought some gluten-free tortillas for my son (not the best) but have had to have separate tortillas for us all (which I don't like to do) because of the cost of the gluten-free ones. Not to mention the fact I live in the country and it is quite a drive anywhere. Any chance in getting your recipe?

Can your son eat corn? There are corn tortillas sold at most grocery stores. Some taste better than others. The tortillas I have made are corn and the recipe is right on the package of Mesa I buy. I do add salt to mine.

  4. I bought my electric tortilla press shortly after being diagnosed 9 years ago. I love it. I have found some fresh tortillas at the coop, so I do tend to buy those quite often. The tortilla press tortillas are a wonderful treat and they taste yummy. I even make chips out of them. Way too good and way too many calories. Another time I use the press is for dinner. I make fresh tortillas and add meat (whatever you prefer) with freshly grated cheese and fresh salsa. The whole family loves this meal.

I think I paid close to $50 for mine press, but do not regret it.

  5. I used to LOVE chow mein noodles!! I would love to have some, however I have hard shipping from them is OUTRAGEOUS!?!! Is this also true of things like the chow mein noodles? Anybody know? You have to create an account to figure any costs and I don't want an account if I don't order.

    -Jessica

Not sure about the shipping cost on non-freezer items. I'm sure you could e-mail or call them to ask.

  6. A friend of mine has a lake cabin in Wisconsin. They visit Granma Ferdon's in Hayward, WI regularily for their multiple allergy son. She brought me back a huge treat... crunchy CHOW MEIN NOODLES. Honestly, they taste like the real thing! I will be placing another mail order soon. I have not tried any of their other products, but will be ordering the pasta shells. Their prices are very reasonable too! I'm very excited. Let me know if you try them.

  7. I'm visiting Las Vegas next week and I heard mention to go to In & Out Burger. Can anyone be more specific about where it is located and if there is one located on the strip (we're staying at the Hotel at Mandalay).

    Also, are their fries safe?

  8. Looks like we've had a change of plans and will be taking a long weekend in New York City later this month. I would love to hear of any gluten free restaurants/bakeries in Manhattan. Would also appreciate gluten-free friendly dining suggestions. I'm praying there's a ton to choose from.

  9. We get their family size french fries every Wednesday after church and bring them home to eat with something from here. Does anyone have any info on their fries? We've been eating them for some time and do not seem to have any symptoms (there are 3 celiacs in our home).

Would love to hear what you might know.

  10. Kinninnick get our vote here. I've made several for family birthdays over the past several months. DH even had a piece 3 days after I made it and commented that it must be good cake for him to be eating it 3 days after the party (he's a calorie watcher).

I make homemade chocolate frosting with powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, cocoa. One time I added a littled melted butter and if gave the frosting an entirely different texture. Both ways were very good.

    Anyone else try Kinninnick's?

  11. Thanks for your reply, but the link didn't work for me.

I think this is what you're looking for

I spent less than 5 minutes programming this once. It works great with all the gluten-free mixes I've tried.

  12. I'm so excited. My Zojirushi bread machine just arrived as my Mother's Day gift. I need quick help in figuring out the settings for a Gluten Free Pantry favorite sandwich bread mix. I did go to the GFP and Zojirushi websites, but wasn't able to come up with the settings information.

Can someone help me out? I'd love to make a loaf this afternoon for my kid's snacks.

    Thanks much.

  13. I have been a diagnosed celiac 8 years this month. 2 of my 3 children ages 5, 3 and 2 just blood tested postive for the disease. Considering my diagnosis and their positive blood test results, I do not anticipate having them biopsied.

My questions is this. I was told by the Dr. that any number from 0-10 is considered negative and over 10 is considered positive. According to her, these blood tests are 99% accurate. Does anyone know what this number is that she is talking about? I want to understand what these numbers might signafy and would like to research what the test results mean. My 5 year old tested at a 14.1 and my 2 year old at an 80.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Annette
