  1. Cool! I thought it was probably asking to much that there would be gluten free dog food. I have so many other things I have to look into that this was on the back burner. Aimee isn't allowed to touch the dog's food or dish or mouth and usually the dog doesn't lick her. I just tell her that those things are dirty and might hurt her. Better though will...
  2. Thanks everyone, at least now I can breathe a little easier when changing her disposable diaper. Well........for the most part . My next would have been about diapers and wipes butt I think we've got that covered too. Well.........usually. Doll, or anyone else. What is this about protection from intestinal damage? Aimee doesn't have the gene...
  3. I have been asking a lot of questions because for the life of me I can't get my daughter to grow. I talked to the nurse at enterolab and she said it can take a year for the body to adjust to the gluten free diet and start processing food properly. She also mentioned that if we use paper plates, paper towels and napkins in the kitchen they could contain wheat...
  4. People with asthma and food allergies work too. but children with these problems qualify because of the added expense of their care I believe. That is why I am looking into it.
  5. MY two year old has not gained any weight since march of 2005. She is very healthy and very active she has been gluten free since april of this year and casein free since may. She seems to have the possibility of other food sensitivities but I can not afford to have her tested. I know eggs make me nauseous. I try to give Aimee eggs but she just eats a few...
  6. A public school teacher that I worked for last year told me that children with allergies( I know this is not), asthma and other physical problems whose treatment is necassary and can get expensive get SSI. After hearing what we have been through with gluten sensitivity and casein sensitivity she thought Aimee might qualify. The problem we are running...
  7. SSI sent my 2 year old to one of their doctors because they do not know enough about gluten sensitivity to make a decision about her eligibility. Through the whole visit I would make it about half way through a sentence before he would interrupt me. He didn't like it that no doctor had told me to put her on a gluten free casein free diet, even though her...
  8. HI, I have a 2 year old daughter. Last April I order the stool and gene test from enterolab. It was the 400.00 option. They also tested her for casein sensitivity as part of the package. She did not have the gene for Celiac ( her father was recently diagnosed) but she has two copies of the gene for gluten sensitivity. and one for casein sensitivity. Even...
  9. Hey Lister, If everybody stopped drinking milk, which is intended for baby cows, the dairy industry would be the ones bellyaching but everyone else would probably feel much better. Human bodies cannot absorb the calcium that is found in milk very well. In fact in attempting to absorb the calcium in milk other 'things' are stolen from our bodies. I don...
  10. Let's get Oprah. Everyone listens to her.
  11. Mindy, My daughter and I and several friends take something that has virtually gotten rid of cramping, bloating and (thank God) PMS. However I also work for the company that sells it so I don't know if I am allowed to talk about it. If you want more info my e-mail is odfam@brightok.net. It really works wonders and is gluten free and healthy
  12. Susan, I have been doing a lot of research, only a fraction of which I understand but here is something interesting that I found. The proteins gluten and casein are shaped like opiates. That means they have the capacity to bind to the opiate receptors in your brain. That paragragh is a quote from something I printed out. efore i add this reply...
  13. Sounds great. Isn't there a support group in Norman? I talked to a lady from there when I first found out about celiac disease. I need to give her another call too. Maybe you know her. I'll find her name.
  14. Thanks Cheri! I feel better just knowing there are options
  15. Hi Carla, I noticed you said you had to go casein free. Aimee( my nearly two year old who is breastfeeding) and I have had to go casein free also. I just realized (with a magnifying glass) that the non-dairy creamer I have been using in my coffee has casein in it. AAuurrrGGGhhh. I don't care about caffeine but I love the flavor of , well, flavored...
  16. Hey neighbor! I had to look on the map. It looks like Little Rock is about half way between us. I have only been there once when the babe had to go to children's hospital. Weird, but somehow finding someone close by (who is freindly and understands this stuff) kinda warms the heart. I hope to hear more from you.
  17. Ya, I'm in Oklahoma. What part are you from. I am in the south eastern corner a few miles from Beavers Bend State Park.
  18. Yes, both Aimee and I have been gluten and casein free for a few months now. After about a month on this diet she started saying more words and has been less fussy. I am becoming a single parent and am struggling with the need to make a living and to keep Aimee home and safe from gluten/casein. Because of the extreme expense of the diet and having no support...
  19. My husband has celiac, I might and the baby has two genes for gluten sensitivity. Aimee ( the baby) has had trouble growing from the time she was in the womb. She is breastfed and her doctor has recommended that she be breastfed until she is at least 3 because she is casein sensitive. Milk fat is needed for brain development until age 3. She is 22 mo. old...
  20. Thanks everybody, the tears are streaming now. It is good to talk to people who understand. Thanks, Sillyactsue
  21. My husband, soon to be ex, was diagnosed with celiac this year. He is 44 years old. I love him but the damage he has done to us is still here. It saddens and angers me to read about the psychological effects of celiac disease gone wild. I don't know if I have celiac or not but I know I have at least one gene for gluten sensitivity because our daughter...
  22. My 22mo. old daughter has two copies of genes for gluten sensitivity. It keeps her from growing. I have not been tested but obviously have at least one gene. Her dad has been diagnosed with celiac. We are on a gluten free/casien free diet but I have never seen anything written about what actually cleans a surface in a way that makes it gluten free. It isn...
  23. I am wondering if the gel-capsules have gluten in them. It is the clear kind. I have a natural suppliment that has no gluten in it. If the capsules do have gluten in them is it safe to take the supplement out of it and still take it?
