  1. Well, I'm afraid that when <SOMEONE> put all those shells into the yeti's hair <SOMEONE> used a metallic glue which apparently hasn't washed out. Once the yeti started through the maze and started sweating, the metal bits in his hair reacted with the metal electrodes. He's fine - no need to worry - he'll just be having a bad hair day for quite...
  2. Big genetic association study. Many experiments over two months. I won't know until the end of January or so how things went (although I know I didn't drop anything, miscount anything, etc). I missed my ferry so I'm hanging out trying to figure out some badly instructed free program for doing said association studies once I have all the data. Maybe...
  3. Open Original Shared Link big hairy experiment today. will only be checking for humor
  4. MOJO FINDING EXPERIMENT Okay, this is a bizarre piece-together from assorted scientific data, and the gist is this: Substance P is a response to pain. Substance P is also involved in mood (negatively). theory: Removal of free substance P will elevate mood. Experiment: Eat a lot of spicy food. You'll send all your substance P to your gut, remove...
  5. I second (fourth? fifth?) the elimination diet. I accidentally went soy free and felt so much better that I've started limiting a lot of other things as well. Now I severely limit my intake of soy, but don't worry about it cooked into things. Everything except gluten I can eat a little of as long as it's before 2pm (I have sleep issues). You may find...
  6. Tom - is this really you?? Open Original Shared Link
  7. Didn't hear that version, but this one: Open Original Shared Link I was gonna say that it's stopped raining, but it started again. At least it's normal rain. I guess snow would be worse, since we're all hills.
  8. wet wet wet. roads flooded. Interstate 5 underwater. Major roads between Portland and Seattle closed.
  9. Always amazed at how much I miss over the weekend. Here in Seattle it's dark and has been pouring rain since yesterday. My driveway is three inches of standing water. My dirt/gravel driveway....
  10. ummm, maybe I didn't read carefully enough , but where's the yeti in that?
  11. Well, we're jealous of your ability to actually keep organized and think linearly. Generic! Wow! Let us know how it goes.
  12. 5'7"
  13. For a properly controlled study you need 4 groups: +gluten, +drug -gluten, +drug +gluten, -drug -gluten, -drug They need to be able to show that the drug itself doesn't cause harm. Yes, this should have been tested in normals, but you can't compare a disease group (Celiac) to a normal population in terms of their reaction to a drug.
  14. Oh Lisa, I'm so sorry that this is so hard for you. Someday soon you'll be done with school and done with needing support from your parents. Hang on till then and remember that everyone here is on your side.
  15. I wonder if so many of us just get used to feeling like crap because of all the crap we eat (not just gluten). I didn't know how bad I felt until I didn't feel that bad any more.
  16. And you risk being put into the group that has to consume gluten.
  17. Maybe she's actually looking for someone to make new outfits for her.
  18. I'm sorry this is so much trouble for you. My bit of advice would be NOT to have your name on the lease/phone/cable whatever. That way you aren't responsible for irresponsible roommates.
  19. It is HIGHLY inappropriate to make me laugh at work!!
  20. umm, <insert something about "fitting shoes">
  21. Paula, I am one of the non-religious types on this forum and have no problem with you, or anyone, asking for prayers. I interpret it as "good energy", which I am more than happy to direct your way. I also have no issues with a 'prayer thread', but a whole forum, I think, is not appropriate.
  22. He took numerous bows. Great fun was had by all.
  23. While waiting for the ferry, lots of people stand outside on the walkway overlooking the loading area for the cars. One time some poor guy with either a new car, or someone else's car, managed to set off the alarm. and not remember how to unlock the door. For 15 or 20 minutes this poor man tried to first figure out how to get into his car, then turn off...
  24. Or somebody read him your rant
