ARCHIVED Infertility, Still Not Cured By gluten-free Diet
GlutenWrangler replied to minton's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm pretty sure she's telling the truth guys. I don't think anyway would waste that much time on fake posts. Minton, First I have a couple important questions. Were all of your pregnancies caused by the same guy? Did you ever get pregnant with your current fiance? Like tarnalberry said, it could just be a genetic mishap with the dirtbag who raped you... -

ARCHIVED Curious If It Is Common!
GlutenWrangler replied to adiftime's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have tiny pinkies, especially for a guy. My pinkies are smaller than those of some girls I know. My fingers are a little small in general. Which is kind of a curse for me because I play guitar, actually I'm trying to become a professional musician, and having large hands makes things so much easier for guitar players. Jimi Hendrix had 11-inch hands! I have... -

ARCHIVED Some Symptoms
GlutenWrangler replied to amcoops's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well if removing gluten improved your condition, I'd have to say gluten seems to be at least part of your problem, if not all of it. But if you plan to get tested, your results may not be accurate if you're on the gluten-free diet. If you don't feel the need to have an official diagnosis, just keep doing what you're doing, and see how it goes. Good luck,... -
I'd love to know what evidence Dr. Fine has that his almighty stool test results are 100% precise for gluten as the sole cause of positive tTG. Especially considering that the bood tests aren't even 100% precise. Those are the kinds of claims that NEED to be either verified or refuted by peer review. But he has to publish first, and that'll never happen....

ARCHIVED Can't Even Enjoy Thanksgiving- Staying Home
GlutenWrangler replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Jason, Honestly, I would kill to be able to have some chicken, rice, and beans. But I can't eat. I'm fed through in IV, and it's been that way for almost a year and a half now. Imagine what it's like to not have a single piece of food for almost 18 months. But if I'm able to enjoy and make the best of Thanksgiving, there's no doubt that you can. You... -

ARCHIVED It Just Hurts So Much
GlutenWrangler replied to mysecretcurse's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's pretty much a form of discrimination, and it's definitely not right. It's not much different than denying people because of disabilities. I hope you'll be able to find a place that does accomodate special diets. Good luck. -Brian -
Well said Rachel! His statements about publishing influenced my decision to buy the test as well. He's been saying he's about to publish for years, and it's getting to be ridiculous at this point. It's a very good point that he has had no trouble publishing other things. He just can't seem to get around to publishing the data on the stool tests though. I...

ARCHIVED Celiac And Working In A Restaurant
GlutenWrangler replied to smootb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think it's pretty clear that you need to get out of the food business. Your job is clearly affecting your health in a negative way, and it's just not worth it. To answer your question, it is more than possible that you're having a reaction from the gluten that you're exposed to at work. It is very common for this to happen to celiacs. Flour can stay in... -

ARCHIVED New Here 12 Yr Old With Eating Disorder And Positive Igg
GlutenWrangler replied to desccc's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That's an excellent point...It's definitely worth bringing that up with her doctor. It's pretty clear that Celiac Disease has been a pretty central issue for her entire life. It's pretty telling that her pediatrician thought that she had celiac disease at 9 months old. And a positive blood test is enough to put her on a gluten-free diet for good. Don't buy... -

ARCHIVED Excess Stomach Acid
GlutenWrangler replied to raen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Child protective services wouldn't remove him from the home on the first call. It would take multiple calls and evidence for that to happen. If you truly feel like it's a serious enough issue that you need to call CPS, don't hesitate to do so. You have to go with your gut on this. Nobody on this forum can really tell you what to do in this situation. Ultimately... -

ARCHIVED Can Anyone Help Me?
GlutenWrangler replied to cressy75's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It could be Celiac Disease, but it sounds more to me like food allergies. I think you should find a new doctor, and explore both celiac disease and food allergies. You should definitely ask your new doctor to perform a full celiac panel, and make sure he or she runs all the tests that Lisa included in her post. There are some food allergy tests out there... -

ARCHIVED New Here 12 Yr Old With Eating Disorder And Positive Igg
GlutenWrangler replied to desccc's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I really don't know what her doctor is thinking by having her take Glutenzyme. Glutenzyme is worthless for celiacs. The only time it MIGHT be helpful is to help when someone has eaten something that was cross-contaminted by a small amount of gluten. But even that is questionable. I think her best bet is to try the gluten-free diet, and see how she feels.... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Receiving Social Security Disability?
GlutenWrangler replied to GregC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Judy! Thanks, it's nice to hear from you. I had one doctor who said I may have SOD, but if I do, it's SOD type 3, which he said only has a 10% surgical success rate. But I may see a new doctor to discuss the issue. Anyway I hope all is well with you! Take care, -Brian -
I also have seasonal crashes. Especially when it changes from Summer to Autumn. I have been a complete wreck since the beginning on September. It hasn't ever been as bad as it has been this year for some reason. I think it's partially due to Celiac, and partially due to allergies. It usually subsides when Winter comes. Winter to Spring is the second worse...

You can ask your doctor to run a gene test for you. If your doctor refuses, you can order a gene test through Enterolab. They send you a swab for the inside of your cheek, and then you send it back to them. It usually takes about 2-3 weeks to get the results back. I think it costs around $99. -Brian

ARCHIVED A Question For The Experienced
GlutenWrangler replied to katebuggie28's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Try a very small amount of red meat, and see what happens. If you can tolerate it, gradually increase it until you are eating a normal full serving. If you can't tolerate it, just give it time. As your body continues to heal, you'll eventually be able to eat it. But it is a good sign that you are tolerating milk. If you continue having a problem with red... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Receiving Social Security Disability?
GlutenWrangler replied to GregC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Greg, I've been on SSI since April, but my case is pretty severe. I am unable to eat at all due to Celiac Disease and many food allergies and intolerances. For the past 17 months, I have been on IV nutrition. I was accepted in less than two months. I'm not sure if Celiac Disease alone would qualify for SSD or SSI because according to medical opinion... -

ARCHIVED How Much Weight Did You Lose?
GlutenWrangler replied to 1morething's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I lost a total of 88 pounds when I was at my worst... I'm 5'10", and when Celiac Disease first hit me, I weighed about 193. It was an unnatural weight for me, as I was underweight my entire life. I blame the weight gain on the early onset symptoms of the disease. But when it really hit me, I started dropping weight rapidly. I lost 12 pounds in the first... -

Rachael, It's usually a delayed reaction. Some people start feeling it within a half hour, others don't start feeling it until the next day. Gluten reactions can last more than 3 days. Because of this, it can be tough to pinpoint when exactly you ingested the gluten, especially if you're on a cycle of getting glutened. That's why prevention is best when...
