  1. Thank you so much everyone for your feedback. I don't even think this doctor knows that he's going in "the wrong end" with the scope to look for Celiac. He commented that he tested for Celiac the last time he "did a colonoscopy." I'm definitely finding a new GI. I appreciate your feedback on good books to read (and thank you for letting me know which...
  2. Hi all, I am trying this diet again. I'm having D 5-10 times a day, my BP is low, I'm weak, and I've lost at least six pounds recently (at 5'8" I weighed 122 lbs. at the gastro.'s office). I took a list of all my symptoms (I won't list here) to my gastro. Anyway, he said, "You have IBS...I'll put you on X drug, and you take it everyday...up to 8 pills...
  3. Thanks for the replies! That makes sense. I'm still rereading my gluten-free notebook and there are "holes" in my info. where I didn't document certain things the last time I was gluten-free. Take Care! -Julie
  4. Hello everyone, I have been diagnosed with gluten-intolerance/Celiac twice....once by a doctor and once by myself. Since I am "starting over" with the gluten-free diet, I thought I would share some things that helped me the first (and now the second) time starting the gluten-free diet. 1. You will find your best tools to be other people with Celiac...
  5. To piggy-back off of Lisa's link...here is the direct link to the grocery portion. Companies that identify questionable ingredients are listed. Take a peek... Open Original Shared Link -Julie (Thanks again Lisa)
  6. Awesome Lisa!!! I appreciate that so much! You are too cool for getting back with me so quickly. Take care and have a nice day! -Julie
  7. Hi everyone, I have a list from years ago of companies that always identify questionable ingredients clearly on the label. For example, Kraft... Are there any updated lists of companies that clearly list sources of "questionable" ingredients? Does Kraft still do it? Somebody PLEASE respond. I'm grocery shopping today. (I've already...
  8. Try this link below. Once you click there will be several green headings you can choose from. One is a "safe" list and another is an "unsafe" list for gluten-free food ingredients. Hope that helps. -Julie Celiac.com link
  9. Thanks for the info.! -Julie
  10. I agree with mamaw, Years ago, when I was first diagnosed. I went to a nutritionist (well respected in our community). She told me the basics "don't eat gluten." NO help at all. To be honest, most people do not learn much from their visits unless the nutritionist is dx. with Celiac too and has had to do his/her own research. You will find your...
  11. Thank you all for your replies! I'll check out the items you all have mentioned. I'm still trying to remember what I liked better for a quick lunch...Ener-G or Kinnikinnick pizza crust. I wish I would have written it down. Sigh...live and learn, right? This time, I'm writing EVERYTHING down.
  12. Thank you so much for your suggestions.
  13. LOL...yep, that was me. LOTS of kitchen disasters. I remembeer you all too! The people who are helpful, funny, positive, and nonjudgmental are the ones who always stand out in my mind...that goes for any site I'm a "regular" on. Thank you all for responding to my post.
  14. Hello everyone, I am about to order my flours for making up my gluten-free flour blend to keep on hand. When I was previously on the gluten-free diet, I thought that I was also able to go ahead and add in the xanthan gum with the flours in my mix that I stored. Am I dreaming? It has been three years since I've been on the diet. I honestly...
  15. Hi everyone, I used to be a regular on this site. I responded well to the gluten-free diet, but my doctor decided that I did not have Celiac several years ago. The stomach issues returned...as they have my whole life, EXCEPT when I was gluten-free. Back on the gluten-free diet I go... My question is this, since I'm "starting over", are there...
  16. Thank you everyone. I hope to be healthy again soon! Wishing you all the best. -Julie
  17. Hi everyone, I have not posted in many years. I went off the gluten free diet because I was told that I do not have Celiac. Well, three years later the stomach problems are worse than ever. I am staying up at night and sleeping on the couch to avoid waking my husband and toddler every time I need to run to the bath. Sometimes I'm skipping dinner altogether...
  18. Oh excellent, please keep the recipes coming! When I get out of the hospital next week, it will give me something to keep my mind busy! Hugs. -Julie
  19. Hey everyone, Well, I'm going in the hospital tomorrow. It's related to my epilepsy (I know others on our forum here have had seizures/epilepsy too). The doctor is going to try and reduce the number of meds. I take, but I need to be in the hospital because she is going to do it rapidly. I'm actually kind of excited. It's the first "new treatment...
  20. Good grief, I am one of the millions of individuals driven to buy things I don't want and can't use by attractive advertising and product display. I've got "sucker" written all over me. This is how I came home with a bottle of wine. And my hubby doesn't drink. I need suggestions. I now own a bottle of red wine for cooking... Unless...
  21. Dear Recipe Goddess, I actually have all the ingredients for this dish already in my kitchen! (Who knew I was such an exotic cook)? I have everything...except for the pinapple/mango dip. (I'm not even 100 percent sure I know what a mango looks like) Obviously, a mango is a fruit, so any ideas for a yummy substitution for the dip...
  22. Hi I found mine at Kroger, a "normal" local grocery store, in the Asian food section. (Near all the Chineese/Japaneese food) Check your local grocery store. You may have to look carefully for your wraps, I found them kind of "hidden" toward the top of the shelf. Hope this helps! -Julie
  23. You guys are a riot! Munkee, for your benifit, please don't copy anything I do in the kitchen! I am simply here for comic relief. You'll gradually learn from the experts on cooking on this site. Glad my dead yeast could be of assistance. -Julie
  24. Wow ladies! What good tips Well, I really messed up... I thought if a little heat is good at making yeast froth, then... A lot of heat must be extra good...I thought I'd have the fluffiest yeast bread around. Looking back, I suppose my logic was a little juvenile. So, for any of you reading this, don't expect yeast to froth...
