Hey Guys,

I need some help.

Does anybody know of a good gluten-free cereal bar...like nutri grain or even like a granola bar?

My daughter has been eating a lot of envirokids rice krispie treat bars (gluten-free) but I'd like to try something new....

Glutino makes some cereal bars that are pretty good, we don't like the chocolate flavor, but they have an apple flavor and a blueberry flavor that is pretty good. My daughter is five and she loves them. I think they kind of taste like fig newtons.

There are also Larabars... they are completely raw and vegan as well... they might be a bit much for a toddler though, some people think they are gross.

How about baggies full of nuts, raisins, craisins, yogurt raisins, pineapple chunks, etc and gluten-free pretzels? Or baggies full of grapes, apple slices, carrot sticks, blueberries and orange slices? Those Envirokidz bars are diabetes for beginers snacks. :o

my daughter just told me that her favorite snacks are mandarin oranges in fruit cups, baby carrots, applesauce, corn thins (Real Foods), and Philly Swirl Italian Ice pops... they have sugar free ones or regular (these are a special treat type food)

offer a wide variety of healthy choices instead of relying on cereal bars. Mostly I keep the cereal bars around for situations where we are "on the run" and need to have something portable and quick.

Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system

Scott Adams. I was dealing with a DR that didn't care about me being celiac. I repeatedly told him that I was celiac and is everything gluten-free. He put an acrylic lens from j&j. I called the company to ask about gluten and was told yes that the acrylic they use has gluten....then they back tracked immediately and stopped talking to me. The Dr didn't care that I was having issues. It took me 6 months and a lot of sickness to get it removed.... which can only happen within 6 months. The Dr that took it out said that it was fused and that's why I lost vision. If they would have removed it right away everything would be fine. He put in a silicone one that was gluten-free and I've had no issues at all in the other eye. Do not do acrylic!

Welcome @Martha Mitchell, I too would like to know more about your prior lenses, and especially about the potential of gluten in lenses. In theory this should not harm most celiacs, as the autoimmune reaction normally begins in the gut, however, in those who are super sensitive or have dermatitis herpetiformis it may be a potential issue.

It's most likely going to be a celiac disease diagnosis based on your blood test results, but wait for your doctor to give you a green light for going gluten-free, as they may want to do additional testing. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
