Prawns?

Hi,

I am trying to work out what I have had a reaction to. For lunch today I had a mixed salad (lettuce, carrot, purple cabbage) with prawns (from the deli) and grape tomatoes and thousand island dressing (Kraft which according to their website is gluten free) and I feel that I have had a reaction to it. Could it be the prawns?

Or maybe it's the fact that I have only been gluten-free since Sunday (Had a lapse over the weekend), and stuff is still going through my system?

Most people take awhile to feel 100% better....from days and weeks, to months and years, depending on damage and other factors. I remember when I went gluten-free, I would still get sick from very basic foods (gluten-free) and this went on for a few months until I was completely healed. For me, it was somewhat hard to tell in the beginning if I was "glutened" or still healing.

Don't know anything about the prawns though...?

Hope you are feeling better!

It does take a while to be feeling better and accidental injestion is common in the early months. Also our family reacts strongly to distilled vinigars, many companies consider them to be gluten-free, so they don't mention it on labels as grain in origin. It will just say distilled vinigar. I always make sure it is distilled from corn before I consume. I know folks will disagree with me but I also would not touch anything from a deli, too much of a chance of crosscontamination.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
