I Am Exhausted...

The past couple weeks have been insane!! Like completely! I took on a new position with my church a couple months ago, which lead to me being heavily involved in stuff for our VBS this past week. I have been leaving home every morning for work at 7:45am and getting home after VBS at about 11:00pm. My only day off was Tuesday (which I spent leaving extra early to go check out my "local" Trader Joe's-about 45 miles away, then had lunch with a friend I haven't seen in months). All in all, after the past 2 weeks of going crazy between preparation meetings for VBS and then VBS this past week, I have had 15 consecutive 15 hour "work" days. But you know what? I would never have been able to do this a year ago! A year ago I wouldn't have been worth sh** after the first 2-3 days! My energy level is up (while not perfect, it's definitely way up), and my concentration is awesome! I can sit down and do something and not spend half of that time distracted or forgetting what I was doing!

Yep. :-) It's still not as much energy as I would like, there's others who were still going like an energizer bunny Friday night, but at least I was still functioning Friday night. Now if I can just get rid of some of these other lingering things.

Once I get my evil scientist project done I will be able to harness the energy from children, making them tired for bed, and give the energy to adults. *evil scientist laugh here* That has been my life long project.

Possibly gluten withdrawal. Lot's of info on the internet about it. Somewhat controversial but apparently gluten plugs into the same neuro sensors as opiates do and some people get a similar type withdrawal as they do when quitting opiates. Another issue is that gluten-free facsimile flours are not fortified with vitamins and minerals as is wheat flour (in the U.S. at least) so when the switch is made to gluten-free facsimile foods, especially if a lot of processed gluten-free foods are being used as substitutes, vitamin and mineral deficiencies can result. There is also the possibility that she has picked up a virus or some but that is totally unrelated to going gluten-free.

Daughter has started gluten free diet this week as per gastroenterologists suggestion. However says she feels more tired and like she’s been hit by a train. I suggested it could be the change to gluten free or just stress from the endoscopy last week catching up with her. Just wondering if feeling more tired is a normal reaction at this stage. I suppose it’s possible some gluten might have been present without realising. Have tried to reassure her it’s not going to resolve symptoms overnight

Looking for help sourcing gluten-free products that do not contain potato or corn derived ingredients. I have other autoimmune conditions (Psoriatic Arthritis and Sjogrens) so I’m looking for prepared foods as I have fatigue and cannot devote a lot of time to baking my own treats.

I am so sorry you're going through this. It's completely understandable to feel frustrated, stressed, and disregarded after such a long and difficult health journey. It's exhausting to constantly advocate for yourself, especially when you're dealing with so many symptoms and positive diagnoses like SIBO, while still feeling unwell. The fact that you have been diligently following the diet without relief is a clear sign that something else is going on, and your doctors should be investigating other causes or complications, not dismissing your very real suffering.
