Blood Results - Advice Please

Hi

I posted here about a month ago to say my 2 yo had tested positive & received some great advice. He has since had his genetic results back to confirm diagnosis.

I have been to see the gastro consultant & dietician and they advised that his ttg levels were the highest that they've ever seen (5000) and it's going to take some time for him to get better.

I have tried to research ttg levels and ranges and can't really find anything that matches this result that was given today and what it means!

Can anyone shed any light please or give me some advice?

Thanks

Most labs tend to stop counting at a certain level. For instance, my lab's tTG IgA range was 0-20 and my result was >200. I have no idea if I was 201, 350 or 1000.  Not many lab's give an actual number beyond a certain point.

The ttG IGA can take months or years to get down to normal.  My last check was at about 9 or so months gluten-free, and my tTG was almost normal; I think it was 20.9... not sure though.  There are a few around here who took a few years to get back to normal, but most have normal lab's sometime in the first year gluten-free.  Everyone is quite different though.

Just keep him very strictly gluten-free and it will slowly come down.  You could always recheck it at 6 months or after a year gluten-free. If he had the DGP tests done, those tend to become normal faster than the tTG; the same goes for the EMA IgA.

Best wishes.

My daughter's levels were reported as >100 for both antibodies. It took over two years of strict to the point of obsessive gluten free for them to return to normal levels (<20). Don't be discouraged if they don't come down right away. As long as they are heading in the right direction you are doing a great job.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
