So I am going to be 55 I look horrid! I hate the bags under my eyes and red lines on my nose and chin. I just look 65 instead of 55. I hate my self! One of my problems is. They say hydrate your skin! Ok every lotion or potion I put on my skin makes me break out. I use a battery operated scrubber to wash, any soap of any kind, I break out.. If I use any type of lotion bam! I break out! Ughhh You know they say hydrate hydrate hydrate! Its been this way since I was a teen. The more products I use the more I break out. Any answers? Or products you think will be ok? I hate the way I look ! Doesn't seem to matter Gluten free or what ever... Does not matter!

I recently switched to olay age defiying daily moisturizer and its light and not greasy. also I use olay revitalizing foaming cleanser 7 effects. I was using loreal stuff for years and some kinda deep pore scrub. I became sensitive to the retinal -a they put in a lot of these products. I also use infalliable makeup by loreal and it never makes me break out, itch, or anything. they all work very well together. I'm nearing 50 in a month and it makes me look 40. I get compliments all the time. Hope this helps. Also I don't eat fried foods or drink soda.

I also wanted to say if you want to hydrate from the inside out, Pumpkin works wonders.  It helps your body and skin retain moister I buy pumpkin puree and add sugar and cinnamon and just warm it up.  Its loaded with vit. a and excellent for your skin

TY Badcasper for commenting, I am using a Loreal under eye firming jell, it works but the one for my face breaks me out. This stuff isn't cheap! I will try Olay I have to see if it's one I have tried before, I don't drink soda, And I very rarely have any fried foods. I only notice it when I put anything on my face hydrating lotions.

CeliacSharon beat me to it. Coconut oil. You can use it as a mask overnight, then wash it off in the morning. Maybe use a little bit in the morning too and after it soaks in a bit, apply your make-up as usual.

I use Coconut Oil on my hair.I tried it on my face before and bam zit city. I do not wear make up because every time I do Bam breaks me out. I tried sensitive skin and everything eles. I am not concerned about make up I am more concerned about under eye wrinkles ..

Every lotion and potion you can buy in a store will have some form of preservative, alcohol, silicone, etc., that dehydrates your skin. If you look at the ingredient list you'll find alcohol somewhere at the top. This will dehydrate and irritate your skin faster than any of the good ingredients can do something good for your skin. Dehydrated skin will wrinkle faster, so any lotion, make-up remover or anything else you put on your skin should be free from any damaging ingredients.

 

I just use pure oils for my skin, even to remove my makeup. I will wash my face with water and then use argan oil with a kleenex (coconut oil is solid at room temperature so it is more difficult to apply). It cleans as well as any store-bought thing could and doesn't involve synthetic stuff on my face. Coconut oil is awesome as a shaving cream or as a deep treatment for dry hair.  

 

Play around with different oils like argan, almond, jojoba, olive and also shea and olive butter. You will find something your skin likes.

I also use Argan oil on my hair have used it on my face and Bam, breaks out. I drink alot of water everyday. Trying to hydrate.

I also got some Goat milk lotion over Xmas, all natural home made by someone I know, I used that and it broke me out.

ok sounds like oil does not work for you.  I sent some other replies from my e-mail but I don't see them here so excuse me if I am  repeating myself. I use honey PURE RAW HONEY and warm it and brush it on with makeup brush or fingers.  I do it once a week but it can be done daily.  I like to do it in the shower or tub because I can be messy.  leave on for a few minutes and rinse with warm water.  It cleans  with out drying or needing a moisturizer and leaves skin looking younger and soft.  If honey makes you swell like it does me but didn't years ago, use the BUCKWHEATHONEY.  it is not a gluten grain, it's just the name of a flower that they pollenate off of, wich is in fact gluten free.   I have also used honey just recently and in the past for a skin growth that looked like not a mole but skin cancer.  I put the honey on it with a bandaid over it for two days and it fell off.  shhhh! don't tell the government or they will outlaw it and kill all the bee's..  that spot came from where I spray perfume and had been using chantily that I just switched too.  Might be  just a coincidence.  good luck

      I followed the Autoimmune Protocol Diet which is really strict for a while, but later other foods can be added back into your diet.  Following the AIP diet strictly allows you digestive system to heal and the inflammation to calm down.  Sort of like feeding a sick baby easy to digest food instead of spicy pizza.   It's important to get the inflammation down because chronic inflammation leads to other health problems.  Histamine is released as part of the autoimmune response to gluten.  High histamine levels make you feel bad and can cause breathing problems (worsening asthma), cardiovascular problems (tachycardia), and other autoimmune diseases (Hashimoto's thyroiditis, diabetes) and even mental health problems. Following the low histamine version of the AIP diet allows the body to clear the histamine from our bodies.  Some foods are high in histamine.  Avoiding these makes it easier for our bodies to clear the histamine released after a gluten exposure.   Vitamin D helps regulate the immune system and calm it down.  Vitamin D is frequently low in Celiacs.  The B Complex vitamins and Vitamin C are needed to clear histamine.   Supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals boosts your intestines' ability to absorb them while healing.   Keep in mind that gluten-free facsimile foods, like gluten-free bread, are not enriched with added vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts are.   They are empty calories, no nutritional value, which use up your B vitamins in order to turn the calories into fuel for the body to function.   Talk to your doctor or nutritionist about supplementing while healing.  Take a good B Complex and extra Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine (shown to promote gut health).  Most B Complex vitamins contain thiamine mononitrate which the body cannot utilize.  Meats and liver are good sources of B vitamins.   Dr. Sarah Ballantyne wrote the book, the Paleo Approach.  She's a Celiac herself.  Her book explains a lot.   I'm so glad you're feeling better and finding your balance!

      So I should not eat my gluten free bread?  I will try the vitamins.  Thank you all so very much for your ideas and understanding.  I'm feeling better today and have gathered back my composure!

      Some people prefer eating gluten before bed, then sleeping through the worst symptoms at night.  You might want to try that and see if that makes any difference.   Several slices of toast for breakfast sounds okay.  Just try to work up to the Ten grams of gluten.  Cookies might only have a half of a gram of gluten.  The weight of the whole cookie is not the same as the amount of gluten in it.  So do try to eat bread things with big bubbles, like cinnamon rolls.   Yeah, I'm familiar with the "death warmed over" feeling.  I hope you get the genetic test results quickly.  I despise how we have to make ourselves sick to get a diagnosis.  Hang in there, sweetie, the tribe is supporting you.

      @knitty kitty  Thank you very much for the advice. I did the exam this morning, my doctor actually suggested me to take something called "Celiac duo test" in which I first do the genetic test and if it's positive, then I'll have to do the antigen blood test. I have to attend 1 month until my results are ready, so I have some weeks to increase the amount of gluten I eat daily. It will be hard because my health is not the best right now, but I also did a blood test to cheek my nutritional deficiencies. The results will arrive on Tuesday, so I can ask my doctor what should I do to control my symptoms and blood levels during this month. For now I'm resting and paying attention to what I eat— at least I don’t look like a vampire who just woke up, like I did yesterday. I'm still scared because is the first time I've felt this sick, but this is the right moment to turn things around for the better.  I realized that if I eat gluten at lunch I cannot finish the day properly, I become severely tired and sometimes my stomach hurts a lot - let's not talk about the bloating that starts later. Do you think is it ok to eat gluten just in the morning, like some cookies and slices of bread for breakfast?
