New Endoscopy

I just had an Endoscopy a couple of days ago. I am awaiting the results (Biopsy).  I was told I had stomach inflammation. Stomach aches, bloating. I have felt I have Celiac Disease Or some sort Of Gluten Sensitivity. I realized I had a lot of the other symptoms also when I started researching Celiac. I didn't realize all the other symptoms that go along with it. I have migraines - I take daily Topamax for Migraines, and then Immitrex prn. I have been told I have IBS, I have chronic back ache, fatigue. I am a 45 year old female, to put it bluntly seems to be going through menopause - as periods just stopped suddenly last year..I read that can also be part of it. So I am not trying to self diagnose, but anyone else have these symptoms? I just feel tired, run down. I want to be more active but my body doesn't want to. I am slightly overweight, but don't eat a lot, but feel hungry even after I eat - I will sometimes feel full after I eat a few bites, but then feel hungry later on. If it isn't Celiac then I am not sure. Thanks for any response :)

Good call on getting the endoscopy! Too many people just go on a gluten free diet (usually not a super strict one) and never actually know.  

Certainly sounds like it could be celiac. You'll have to wait and see I guess. Good luck!

My daughter was diagnosed with Celiacs. She's 17 but had a lot of your symptoms. She was always tired, stomach aches, she could not even finish a meal without having to run to the bathroom.  Hope you find out soon... The good news is after she went gluten free she started to feel so much better. Good luck to you!

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified...

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?

But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
