Really Quick Question!

Would a GI doctor perform a biopsy even if the blood results came back negative? I mean, is it common. See, I'm trying to ease my mind in some way because my blood results are in but MY DOCTOR ISN'T GETTING BACK TO ME ON THEM! And when I first saw her, she didn't seem like she believe I had celiac disease, but yesterday I had a colonoscopy and EBR and she added (without my knowledge until AFTER I was awake) the biopsies!

So I'm just wondering if from your experiences, a doctor would perform a biopsy even if the blood tests came back negative.

Did you have an endoscopy with the colonoscopy? How did she do the biopsy? Also why didnt she give you your bloodtest results? Have you asked for them?

I don't know how she did them. But I know that I was going in for a colonoscopy and for the upper GI (where they go down your throat) and then when I woke up at the end, she told me she added biopsies to BOTH tests, so upper and lower. But I don't know why she isn't giving me my results on the blood. She seems a little spacey. I asked her yesterday (when I was half awake) and she said that she couldn't recall them at the moment (meaning, she has them, but she forgot about them or something) and to call her in a week or two. Then after I woke up after taking a nap at home, I was like, wait, Quest diagnostics told me they would be in her office in 3 days! She has them and I'm not waiting 2 weeks again! It's already been about two weeks! So I called her yesterday AND this morning and left a message and she hasn't gotten back to me!! I'm so mad! How hard is it for her to call me back and go over them with me for 15 minutes? And the receptionist told me she can't send them to me unless the doctor has given them to me first, BUT SHE IS IGNORING ME! I am so anxious because I know she has them but she won't give them to me because she just clearly doesn't care enough.

Anyway................I also have a question about gastritis. She told me that my stomach lining was inflamed and red, and that I have gastritis. The doctors seem to ALWAYS be telling me that I have this: could this be a HUGE sign of Celiac Disease????

I'm so depressed right now about all of this. And I still feel like crap from drinking that laxitive on Sunday.........my muscle and joint pains are back and an all over "weird" feeling...............HELP ME! PLEASE?

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
