Luna bars

I'm a recently diagnosed celiac (4 months)I tried luna bars, marked gluten free, and had a terrible reaction to them. Why oh why can't they put it prominently on their products that they contain oats! The individual bars have gluten-free in large letters, and oats hidden on the side somewhere. Yes, I know I need to be more careful, but their labelling needs to be better. I'm in agony . I don't react to oat protein, but no oats seem to be truly gluten free or uncontaminated. I'm in such pain and discomfort today.

I think they use gluten-free oats if they label gluten-free.  Maybe you are reacting to the oats?  IF you think you are reacting to all oats, even gluten-free ones?

I think it's possible I react to oats.has anyone else had a reaction to these bars?

I haven't had a reaction to them.  I'm extremely sensitive to gluten but have no issues with gluten-free oats.

I have used them for a long time and haven't had any reaction. I also need to be really careful not to get any dairy so these work good for me.

Good to know I'll give it a try. I've been nervous to try oats even when they say they contain gluten-free oats.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
