Dr. Fasano diet for 6 year old, (gluten contamination elimination diet)

Does anyone know where I can get more info about Dr. Fasano's diet?  I plan to start my 6 year old on it and can't any find details... I have so many questions!  Any blogs out there that anyone knows about with recipes/ideas?

Why no frozen fruit?  I get that frozen veggies are often processed with seasonings, but fruit?

Why is Gatorade allowed?!

Can I make my own rice flour to use?

Is the following allowed:  fresh garlic, peanuts, ground beef/turkey, cocoa, maple syrup, sugar, coconuts, cinnamon sticks... (that's my list so far)

Thanks for any help anyone has!!!

This has study contains a table with the list of foods:

I think the diet is trying to avoid all processed foods.  I have no idea why Gatoraid is on the list!  There must be a reason that some foods are not included.  You would think that garlic, fresh should be fine.   Same goes for unshelled peanuts.  Ground meats you would think too should be fine if not ground by a butcher who stuffs chicken breasts or chops.  The other items are processed.  Even frozen fruit has the possibility of being contaminated.

DR. Fasano's Gluten Freedom book does advise that this diet be supervised by a celiac-savvy dietician and or doctor.

Feel free to try what ever diet works for you and modify it a bit to make it a tad more healthy. PS plain rice noodles from JUST rice are available from the lundberg rice company. I would personally just avoid all processed foods, Anything with added sugars, or questionable content. I personally found my perfect diet just this last month by eliminating all grains, fruits, and starchy veggies moving over to a high fat/protein diet free of most carbs.  We are all different in the way our body works and we each pretty much to tailor make a custom diet to each of our bodies that works best for us. Took me 3 years of tweaking so far and I still feel it needs a tad adjustment.

I got to admit that list is a tad funny on some allowed and not allowed.....I for one will never eat real dairy again, mix thing really between a 10 year intolerance and a bit of a stepped back and logical point of view, and mixed research.   But that is another long winded story, and while on that note we do suggest dropping dairy for the first few months due to the way the body processes it in relationship to damaged intestines.

No, Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     I take both of these and a B Complex.

what Benfotiamine should I take as Life Extension contains both Ben and TTFD.

I take both Benfotiamine and TTFD.   You might want to start with the Benfotiamine for a few days and then add in the TTFD.   You can look for NeuroMag (Magnesium Threonate).  A magnesium glycinate is fine, too.  Doctor's Best is a good brand.  Don't take more than 300mg total per day of magnesium or it may have a laxative effect.   Be sure to take the B Complex.  The Benfotiamine and TTFD will need the other B vitamins.

Life Extension Benfotiamine with Thiamine has 100MG of Ben and 25 of Thia..... Do you think this is the one I should take or Objective Nutrients Thiamax (TTFD) which has 100MG Thiamine. How much magnesium should I look for? I take the womens 50+ multivitamin since consumerlabs stated and tested that it has the right amount of vitamins and not too much for men and doesn't have BHT which has shown to cause liver cancer in animals. I was never big with multivitamins as well as doctors I just read when I was first going gluten free to take a multi but I think I will stop them and work on trying the super B Thia and Ben, Mag.

Hi all I’ve been celiac for 4 years now, I’ve done pretty well to avoid it thus far. Last night I took the wrong pizza out of the freezer and ate the whole lot!! The non gluten and gluten pizza boxes are both very similar.   2 hours later I was throwing up violently on my hands and knees over the loo.  .horrendous stomach pains,  My hair was wet from sweat every part of my body was wet. What an awful experience, just had a bad headache today  fortunately.    Is their any products/pills anyone takes if they have realised they have just been glutened to make the symptoms a little less worse.  thanks
