My rash, when it occurs, is on my scalp, shoulders, lower back, chest and belt area.  It responds to emollient creams and betnovate cream, a type of topical steroid. I have adult onset eczema, which started last summer.

Having read a lot of different comments posted on this forum, while I was having sleepless nights with my own rash, I think the key to this all has to be getting this particular rash looked at by a doctor.   If DH is suspected, a biopsy is the only way forward.

Throwing the wrong treatment at a rash (or not treating it at all) may only result in making things worse.  Going back to last summer,  I was first misdiagnosed with thrush on my right breast, and the treatment made it worse.  Another doctor then looked at it and said, no, it wasn't thrush, it might be eczema, and then prescribed the steroid cream instead.   Thankfully it  responded in days.

However, I recall being told by the second doctor that had I had thrush, and my first doctor had treated it with steroid cream, it would have made the rash even worse.  So it is important you know what you are dealing with.

Hello Emile and welcome to the forum. It's possible that your rash could be gluten-related if you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, but it would not be in an area that is typical for dermatitis herpetiformis, which is the skin condition associated with celiac disease. The only way to be sure would be to see a dermatologist about it (recommended), or get tested for celiac disease and/or try a gluten-free diet to see if it helps.

I hope I am reading your post correctly.  I am not good at posting. Yet I believe you are saying this

you have suffer sometime with eczema all over your body now these type of fissures have appeared on your gentials. You have not been tested for celiac.  If this is correct then I would take the first step get tested for celiac. Seek a celiac specialist to perform the test.  If you come out celiac then you will have to adhere to the no gluten and gladin (I.e corn products avoid) foods, soaps, toothpaste, vitamins. You must avoid all things that you eat or apply to your body that contains gluten or gliadin. Also test if your are a anemic and your b6 b12 levels this will also indicate other problems that maybe contributing to your eczema and rash.  I hope this helps

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
