Positive IgA (slight), negative IgG?

Hi all,

I just wondered if anyone can help shed light on my TTG blood results or if anyone has had similar. 

My IgA was positive - level 13 (normal range 0-7) and my IgG was negative. 

Anyone know what it means when you have a positive IgA and negative IgG?

And also while the IgA is positive, it's pretty low? I've seen people with positive results talk about levels in the hundreds - so why could someone have a raised level only just above the normal?

If the Ttg was the only tests run it might be a good idea to also have the DGP tests. However, even one positive means you should be getting an endoscopy. After that is done you should go gluten free no matter the results. Positive blood trumps negative biopsy because damage can be patchy and can get missed. Do not go gluten free until after the endo. While you wait do read the Newbie 101 thread at the top of the Coping section and ask any other questions you need to ask.

      That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

      Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

      Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

      Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
