Glutenfree Lactose Intolerant Tabs

Hi there,

I finally figured out, that lactose is the other culprit. I started taking Lactose Intolerance Tabs a couple of days ago. First I felt relieved. Well, actually I still feel relieved, but now suddenly today I get this very, very slight headache, which is normally associated with diarrhea with me from being glutened. Now I start to think that these Lactose Intolerace tabs maybe could contain some hidden gluten? I didn't find them on the list, but I thought, the ingredients on the label were fine. It said: Di-Calcium Phosphate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Lactase Enzyme, Ganeden Lactobacillus Cultures, Sodium Starch Glycolate, Silicone Dioxide, Stearic Acid and FD&C Blue #1 Lake. The Brand is Ganeden Biotech and it says Digestive Advantage and Lactose Intolerance on the front. Maybe somebody knows, if they're glutenfree. Or do you know, which ones I can buy, that are glutenfree???

Hugs, Stef

Lactaid pills, chewable and regular (pills) are gluten-free. I used to take them. There was rumor at one time that they weren't...but they are, website and phone calls verify.

Although I did have a problem with lactose for quite some time, I am back to regular milk with no problems. I couldn't stand the taste of any lactose-free milk until someone suggested "Natrel" lactose free milk. I swear you can't tell the difference! It was delicious! I am not sur if you can get it where you are at though or whether it is only in Canada......

Hugs.

I called Ganeden Labs on the Digestive Advantage, they were very helpful and assured me the product was gluten free.

Thanks a lot guys, I will continue to take the Ganeden ones then. I also printed the thread out and will keep it for reference. In case the big "D" should hit me again, I will switch to some other tabs. Maybe, this time the "D" is just stress. I have my GED test next week and although I know, it's easy, I'm always excited before a test. So the "D" might just come because of this.

Hey Stef,

What's a GED?

Karen

Good enough diploma :D

No, joking aside. It's a Test of General Educational Development, which is internationally recognized. The tests have been designed to measure major academic skills and knowledge in areas that are learnt in 4 years of high school. The test is 7.5 hours long and the subjects are

Language Arts, Writing

Social Studies

Science

Language Arts, Reading

and Mathematics

When you pass the test the GED certifies, that you have attained the knowledge and the skills in these subjects associated with high school completion. I already took the pre-tests, which are half the questions and I "passed" all of them. When I learnt for it and did the pre-tests, it ocurred to me, that what you have for your high school is exactly the same, that I had for my middle school final tests. So it shouldn't be a big deal. I passed the middle (business) school very good and with almost no problems.

I'm just anxious, just because I'm always anxious before tests. Even if there should be no reason. That's just me. <_<

All this anxiety must have given me brainfog. I figured out, why I have the big "D". I ate grapes and most of the time grapes do that to me. I should have known better and eat them with a banana. Especially when I drink water with it. I just saw the grapes lying in the fruit bowl on the table and THAT reminded me, that I ate grapes two days ago.

I should calm down and watch some TV and eat ice cream. I'm too worried right now. I will go now. See you tomorrow.

Hugs, Stef

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
