Time Frame For Gluten Response?

My son has been gluten-free 4 weeks now. His diarrhea had stopped after 2 weeks, but today it has been bad again. He spent his first weekend with grandparents and they really tried to follow the diet. I can't figure out if he got glutened here or with them. We picked him up yesterday afternoon and his diarrhea started back last night and has continued through today. I'm just trying to figure out what I gave him if it was here or what might have happened there so we can prevent it from happening again. How long does it take to respond to ingesting gluten?

The answer to how much time really depends on the person. Some have to run to the bathroom almost immediately, others don't feel it for a day or two. I usually begin to get sick after two hours. Since he spent the weekend with the Grandparents, maybe he got cross contaminated there. Also, four weeks is not a long time, in terms of healing--it's not unusual at the beginning to get symptoms on and off. I know I did for the first three months or so.

my girls get cranky almost immediatly after being "glutened" then the rashes show up about 6 hours later and the diarhea the next day, it's weird, but predictable.
