I'm very new here (2nd post). I'm not too sure about everything yet. But I have noticed "reflux" coming up often enough. My son has acid reflux disease and takes pretty high doses of meds normally for adults. He's almost 13 but was diagnosed at 10. He's been through a lot of tests and is back at Children's GI clinic again to see doc and doc wants him to see the psychologist on staff (she knows he has bad reflux but says she feels it's exacerbated by stress). I could go on and on here - but I won't! I guess what I'm getting at is: if I do end up having celiac (I'm going to doc this Friday) is reflux as bad as he has a symptom of him having possible celiac? I wonder....I know you may not know, but the fact your son has reflux - well, I though you might know the connection there.

I've been frustrated all my life over this. I believe that I have lived this way for so many years (since 3) that I just don't know what it feels like to be "normal". I suppose feeling ill so often is normal for me. Then again, it could still just be IBS and I'd be back at square one again. But I know how to live that way anyhow so not so scary for me! Biggest problem for me is that I never have complained to my doctor's about the IBS because I've had it so long it's just a way of life for me. This will pretty much come out of the blue for this doctor (been seeing her for 8 yrs.). I've had the depression too - not severe, but general depression - and hated taking the drugs so now take a low dose one for severe PMS (I'll never go off that - saved my life!! and my husband's!! lol).

At least if I do have celiac in the end I'll have a place to come to for some great help!

Your son very well could be celiac, especially if you are. Acid reflux like his could be his body trying to digest the gluten. I never complained about only doing a #2 once every 10 days because I thought it was normal for me. Every body is different, after all! I did complain about the pms and cramps, the mood swings were destroying my marriage and the cramps were debilitating! All I got for it was Midol and Pamprin, neither of which really helped. Now that I am glutenfree, I potty almost every day, My midsection does not hurt, and I do not have such severe mood swings. I never had diarrhea or wasting away, but I do still have some joint pain (doc says I have arthritis now). Talk to your sons GI doc about testing him for celiac and gluten intolerance. If you can't get testing, try the gluten-free diet. It is better than the bland diets my husband had to be on!

Hi,  I was diagnosed over 30 years ago at the Univ. of Iowa. I also cannot tolerate oats. I find Nugo Dark bars are very good. But, the MOCHA uses real coffee beans and has caffeine. Kind bars with oats are also very good.  Really hope this helps.

I do not understand why manufacturers think everyone that actually has Celiac can tolerate oats. They don't understand that not all of us can. they think it is fantastic and start putting this in all their products making them unusable for me.  So frustrating!!

Comparing results with different units can be very difficult, or impossible. What are the normal ranges for each result?

my ttg iga was 16.5 3 months ago and jumped to 30.1 last week. my iga was 415 and jumped to 455. This was done at a different lab though than the first test for ttg iga one had units as ml the other as cu... so not sure if they really jumped as much as shown. i am so strict on my diet and have no clue why this is happening  thank you for attaching this, could this happen randomly even after being gluten-free for so long ? my ttg iga was 16.5 3 months ago and jumped to 30.1 last week. my iga was 415 and jumped to 455. Hi all, I’ve been following a strict gluten-free diet for 1.5 years since I was diagnosed. The last few weeks though I’ve suffered almost continual bloated stomach and flatulence. It literally is almost constant - and I was never this way before. I can’t think of any change to my diet, activity, etc. I’m dying - it’s so uncomfortable and embarrassing to feel like I have zero control over this. Any ideas? Thank you!
