howdy all,

i'm new to the forum, but only out of ignorance- i wish i had known about this forum 5 or 6 years ago...

i'm recovering from a very advanced case of celiac, and i'm taking it one day at a time. i suppose i'm still somehow hopeful, but i've got some fear about my diet...

my celiac led to a very bad case of "leaky gut syndrome" where i started building antibodies to all the stuff that would have been fine to eat earlier in the progression of celiac...

without going into details, i'm now "allergic" to quite a bit...

ARE THESE ALLERGIES PERMANENT??????

i remember hearing once that you can retrain your body to accept former allergens...?

i'm biting my nails...

Hi B,

I am also struggling with Leaky Gut right now and am intolerant / sensitive to just about everything I put in my mouth.

From what I understand though, a lot of these sensitivites will clear up as the gut heals. Very frustrating I know but hang in there!

Have you tried taking L-Glutamine? I have noticed a bit of an improvement since I started taking it.

Glad you found this forum, its an absolute Godsend!

There are no definit answers, but in my experence of reading psots here and talking wtih ppl, most ppl most of teh time will lose many of thier "allergies" once thier gut heals. It could take years though.... :(

I hear ya. I've just discovered I had Celiac in my forties so I know about leaky gut. The last biofeedback testing I had showed many sensitivities I didn't know about, but certainly explained why my eyes would get red and wattery after almost every meal.

I'm dealing with it through a rotational diet - trying to eat most foods just once every four days. So I have, say rice on Monday and don't have it again until Thursday or Friday.

Another thing that's really helped is taking lots of Vit C or Quercetin, especially having it with foods I normally react to.

I've been doing this for just over a month and last night I ate cheese and my eyes didn't even get red!! This is amazing - cheese is my biggest sensitivity by far (well, after wheat). This was just a treat for Oscar night, I don't intend to eat it all the time, but it was one of the first rays of hope I've had in a long time that something is working. Good luck to you. Care

But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
