Has Anyone Had Any Issues With Any Vitamins

I had to stop taking vitamins for a little over a week due to some tests I was getting done. I started taking vitamins again on Monday and have felt off since Monday night with various symptoms. I'm trying to pinpoint what could have caused the reaction, but vitamins are clearly one of the possible culprits, considering the majority of my diet is very constant. It could of course be cc, some product I used, etc.

After considering this, I checked out my vitamins from one local market, and they say "no added dairy, wheat, soy".... However, they don't mention gluten, just wheat, and I'm not sure why they say "no added" as opposed to simply "no" like another vitamin I have from a different company, which also specifies having no wheat or gluten.

When something says "wheat free" as opposed to "gluten-free", I wouldn't use it. Unless, of course, you call and speak to a person who can explain exactly what's in there. Hard to say anything beyond that, as I don't know which products you are refering to. I use Centrum--those are certified gluten-free.

the products are from a local health food market, Dean's. I think there are only 2 store locations.

With any foods I buy currently, I don't buy them unless they say gluten-free (or are just veggies/fruits or meats). But I bought these vitamins when I didn't know as much about gluten and didn't put much thought into it until this week. I'm leaning towards switching them at this point, it's just such a process trying to find every source of allergens.

I guess it would also be good if I could get recommendations for gluten-free vitamins for calcium-magnesium, fish oil, ester-c, and a multi (w/out any soy from vitamin e or other sources). Thanks.

I know it's a pain to check everything! You mentioned fish oil-- I use Carlson's Cod Liver Oil--lemon flavored. Good luck with all your suppliments!

good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.

I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.

What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks

I would not think store bought yogurt would contain gluten unless it possibly could be through an added flavoring or coloring ingredient. Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free.  Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by the nature of what they are. They are hoping to create a marketing edge over their competitors by adding "gluten free" because they know it may catch attention of those new to the celiac/gluten sensitivity experience without having to cost them anything in the way of changing their manufacturing process or doing testing.

I believe the GFCO does use a common logo for certified gluten free products (those containing not more that 10ppm of gluten) but nothing universal yet from the FDA for standard gluten free products (those containing not more that 20ppm).
