Follow(ing) is not working properly?

To All,

Recently (in the last two weeks) I have noticed my follow topics have not been notifying me with a follow up email?

Is it possible a recent update disabled this feature by accident.

I just responded to a topic recently and I know other people have commented on other topics but I have gotten no notificaiton emails?

And I double checked I am following these threads?

I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong or other users having similar problems in the last 2 weeks or so?

Thanks,

Posterboy,

It's possible, as we did do an update recently. Can you go here and check what you are following and make sure there have been some new posts?

Do you still have your email notifications turned on?

Scott Adams Grand Master

Also, have you double checked your spam box to make sure they aren't going there?

Scott,

No, I am not getting responses for threads I am following?

They are not going to my spam either?

You can create a "Dummy profile" to test this feature to see if it is only mine or is happening board wide?

Then delete it.....but I know for at least the last couple weeks I am not getting "Follow Up" emails.

I don't always follow threads the way I once did......so it is more important now to get follow up emails when I do respond to a thread.....that would be  helpful to know about a response that I could help with....without the need to check the forum as much as I have in the past....

I hope this is helpful......

Also how do I just follow a major section in the forum??? instead of one topic?

Like just related issues and disorders section for example  https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/17-related-issues-disorders/

This is where my research and expertise can most benefit the forum and how I can help best I think going forward...

TIA for your help!

FYI - I’ve been getting email notifications when there is a new post on a thread where I made a post.

Posterboy,

Very strange, I've asked the other moderators if they are getting notifications and they said they were.

Scott,

I wouldn't worry about it then.....if others are getting their reply's.....

I might have turned off the follow button on some of my replys of late and I am getting confused???

But I would like to know how to follow a forum section/topic?

I think Trents told me how once......but I didn't do it at the time...

If I don't get your reply for this thread.....I will know it just me that is having problems.

I am trying to focus on those still suffering issues......and sharing additional research that can help others while I reduce my time due to personal issues on the forum....

I've learned you can't do it all.....all the time....I have to pick and choice what I follow and how I can help etc.

I will still check back in as time allows.....but I am drifting away (at least for a season) and that is ok.....

I have some personal things I am choosing to focus on now (more) these days anyway ....and not just forum things etc...

I hope this is helpful.

Just look for the blue "Follow" box above the topic, or it may already be red and say "Following" as is the case with me in this topic:

@Scatterbrain, Thiamine Vitamin B1 and amino acid Taurine work together.  Our bodies can make Taurine from meats consumed.  Our bodies cannot make Thiamine and must consume thiamine from food.  Meat is the best source of B vitamins like Thiamine.   Vegetarians may not make sufficient taurine since they don't eat meat sources of taurine.  Seaweed is the best vegetarian source of taurine. Vegetarians may not consume sufficient Thiamine since few veggies are good sources.  Whole grains, legumes, and nuts and seeds contain thiamine.  Many of these sources can be hard to digest and absorb for people with Celiac disease.   You may find taking the forms of thiamine called Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) and a B Complex will give the benefits you're looking for better than taurine alone.

@Jmartes71, I went to Doterra's site and had a look around.  The Doterra TerraZyme supplement really jumped out at me.  Since we, as Celiacs, often have digestive problems, I looked at the ingredients.  The majority of the enzymes in this supplement are made using black mold, Aspergillus!  Other enzymes are made by yeast Saccharomyces!  Considering the fact that Celiac often have permeable intestines (leaky gut syndrome), I would be very hesitant to take a product like this.  Although there may not be live black mold or yeast in the product, the enzymes may still cause an immune system response which would definitely cause inflammation throughout the body.   Skin, eyes, and intestines are all made from the same basic type of cells.  Your skin on the outside and eyes can reflect how irritated the intestines are on the inside.  Our skin, eyes, and intestines all need the same vitamins and nutrients to be healthy:  Vitamin A, Niacin B3 and Tryptophan, Riboflavin B2, Biotin B7, Vitamin C, and Omega Threes.  Remember that the eight B vitamins work together.  Just taking high doses of just one, vitamin like B12, can cause a deficiency in the others.  Taking high doses of B12 can mask a Folate B9 deficiency.  If you take B12, please take a B Complex, too.  Thiamine B1 can be taken in high doses safely without toxicity.  Thiamine is needed by itself to produce energy so every cell in the body can function, but Thiamine also works with the other B vitamins to make life sustaining enzymes and digestive enzymes.  Deficiencies in either Niacin, Vitamin C, or Thiamine can cause digestive problems resulting in Pellagra, Scurvy, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi.   If you change your diet, you will change your intestinal microbiome.  Following the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, a Paleo diet, will starve out SIBO bacteria.  Thiamine keeps bacteria in check so they don't get out of control as in SIBO.  Thiamine also keeps MOLDS and Yeasts from overgrowth.   Menopause symptoms and menstrual irregularities are symptomatic of low Vitamin D.   Doctors are not as knowledgeable about malnutrition as we need them to be.  A nutritionist or dietician would be more helpful.   Take control of your diet and nutrition.  Quit looking for a pill that's going to make you feel better overnight.  The Celiac journey is a marathon, not a sprint.   "Let food be your medicine, and let medicine be your food."

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

Anyone experimented with Taurine supplementation either via electrolyte powders or otherwise? Thanks
