nuts and seeds

specifically styrian pumpkin for zinc and brazil nuts for selenium. although gluten free very difficult to find that are certified gluten-free so cross contamination is possibility. a couple brazil nuts gives more than what is required daily. i am newly diagnosed so any suggestions in this would be appreciated.

For pumpkin seeds, this should meet your needs. I get them at Costco. Certified gluten-free.

AS to Brazil nuts, you could go for those still in the shell. That is, if you don't mind the challenge of cracking them open.

duh, i never even thought about cracking them myself. thanks. i may have to resort to product like go raw but as general rule try to keep away from food grown in china because i had bad experience many yrs ago. i am not an ugly american but trust usa organic controls more.

I'm interested in where to get certified gluten-free cashews, walnuts, pecans, almonds, and sunflower seeds. The vast majority of nuts and seeds at CostCo are not labeled gluten-free. I get the pumpkin seeds that trents mentioned and they are pretty good.

I had a reaction to the already-shelled brazil nuts from CostCo though, even though they are labeled gluten-free. Not sure what was going on there. Good idea on getting the ones that are still in the shell.

I used to buy from nuts.com but their prices have gotten pretty high.

Just received brazil nuts and they are absolutely delicious. Best ever and purchase will help preserve amazon rainforest and generate income for the local community. Why take a pill when 2 nuts more than takes care of selenium needs plus other nutrients.

Food sourced is better.  But I have periods of anorexia so the pills guaranty that I have at least a sufficient baseline intake.  I as eat that nutrient reliably I stop supplementing. 

I buy Durham Deluxe Mixed Nuts at my local supermarket.  Apparently the Deluxe in the title indicates Brazil Nuts.

Over the last six months I've increased my iodine intake with drops of Liquid Iodine to 1625 mcg a day.  Since the US Tolerable Safe Upper Limit is 1100 mcg, for the purpose I am declaring myself Honorary Japanese.  Their Tolerable Safe Upper Limit for Iodine is 3000 mcg a day.  The results are insane.  Right eye vision returning, foot neurapathy improving, muscle tone and strength improving.  Overall, everything is getting better.  My quarterly bloods come up next week and my doctor told me she's testing for everything.  Should be interesting.

My vitamin D is 90 ng/ml from sun so I have stopped the 10,000 IU a day I have been taking for the past 10 years,  Another sign of healing from sufficient vitamins and minerals as part of my GFD diet.

Here's what I take most days:

  • B1 250 mg
  • B2 100 mg
  • B3 500 mg
  • B5 500 mg
  • DHEA 200 mg
  • Selenium 200  mcg
  • Vitamin C 2000 mg
  • Choline 500 mg
  • Iodine 1625 mcg

      He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

      Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

      Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have.It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.
