Food Items That Look Gluten-free But Are Not

Just wanting to start a list of foods that look like they may be gluten-free from the ingredients list, but from actual experiences, seem not to be and have caused problems.

I am going to start the list off with:

Wellshire Farms' Primo Naturale sliced and dried Hot Chorizo.

The ingedients list has "spices" listed. I have reacted very terribly crippling badly after each time eating this product. I emailed the company, and they claim that the "spices" are just pepper, but I really do not think so. (Why didn't they just list pepper then, rather than spices, in the plural????) I wouldn't call this a gluten-free product.

It is possible, that there is hidden gluten in it. But it is also possible that you have intolerances to things other than gluten as well, and that you reacted to one of the listed ingredients.

I think there is wheat flour in the paprika.

Anyways, on with the list - any food that lookd to be gluten-free but gave you problems.

I'm going to add Penzy Spices.

I believe some of their spicves has flour in it, even if they claim it doesn't. I know I reacted.

(Incidentally, I only react to gluten or peanuts, so my list of intolerances is small enought o know if somethig has gluten and anyways, let this list serve as a heads-up and beware of this one....)

Also, it is noteworthy that their spices do not have a strong spice smell, as other spices do.

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
