I don't know why, but my son is crying with stomach pain. The only thing I can figure is some little cousins visited this morning and they may have given him something to eat. He's screaming. What do you do with your kids? What can I give him to help?

Tylenol and a hot bath are what I normally do to help ease the pain. Also, laying on his back propped up some may help, I find I hurt the least in that position.

I hope he feels better soon :(

You can also try having him "assume tuttle position". Start on hands and knees, leave bottom in the air, hug himself with his arms and drop shoulders to the ground, with head to the side. I don't know how else to explain it, but it gets gas up and out.

I finally got him settled down. He had been crying a LONG time before I posted. I did what you said Lonewolf and gently massaged his back and sang to him. He was whimpering so pitifully even in his sleep. I also gave him a Prevacid. It was prescribed before the gluten-free diet and he hasn't been needing it. The tylenol was next, though. Thanks both of you. Hopefully he will sleep it off. I just don't know what could be causing it. He hasn't eaten anything unsual today except Kraft marshmallows and they are gluten-free. Maybe it was cc?????? The only other thing is if the cousins here earlier gave him something without me knowing it while they were playing outside. It was innocent if they did, but I hate he's hurting so bad..... :(

Thanks guys. He seems to be feeling better tonight. He's not eating much, but he's not crying. Thanks for the prayers!

I'm hurting like I was glutened too. I think mine was CC from communion tonight. Our pastor was great about keeping the rice crackers separate for us, but he forgot to have a seperate cup for us. I knew better, but I dipped (just barely) anyway. We're doing confirmation and I'm a mentor for a young girl that I was teaching about communion tonight. I wanted to do it with her. You'd think I'd learn by now!!!! <_< I'll let him know it was an issue for us and he'll fix it, though.

any of you have problems with the flavored Kraft marshmallows? it's the only new thing he had tonight. I just don't know what caused it for him since he slept through church!

I always keep a pack of Pepto Bismol chewables on hand and if my daughter has an accidental glutening then I give her 1/3 of a tablet to chew on... after a while if she's not better I'll give her another 1/3 of a tablet... also if it's really bad, Tylenol, and I make sure that she's sipping on water.

I'm sorry to hear your little guy wasn't feeling good... It can be like trying to solve a mystery to figure out where they got cc'd sometimes, and sometimes we may never know. It always makes me feel bad if I've been really vigilant about making sure things are safe for her and she still get's sick.

I only just saw your post now--sorry I didn't see it before. Oh, I'm so sorry your little guy had such an awful time! I hope it never happens again. Would a hot water bottle on his tummy help?

Thanks for the advice guys. I really don't know what I would do if I didn't have all of you to turn to for help. :) My little guy was tuckered out last night and went to bed really early, but seems much better.

By any chance, did he just have any vaccines in the last 48 hours? That's how my oldest reacted--and there was a delay of a few hours before he started with hours of screams like I've never heard before or since (and I hope never to hear them again).

No, we were home all day. That's why I can't figure it out because the house is gluten-free. I haven't given him anymore of the marshmallows. I may let him have some more in a few days and see if he gets sick. It's so hard because sometimes kids just have a tummy ache, but I always try to tie it back to gluten. He seems fine today, though. For that I am grateful! thanks for the idea, though.

What worked great for us (2 1/2 year old) when he got glutened recently was some of the infant mylicon drops. His bloated tummy dropped right back down and he wanted something to eat within 30 minutes.

Nini, I think Pepto has aspirin in it and isn't safe for young kids.... I might be wrong, but I remember it that way. Just to let you know.

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic.       Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce. Something is making my pain so much worse I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs. Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever...

In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
