Potato

Hi,

I get bloated when I eat potatoes a lot, (every day) anyone else with Celiac Disease notice this too? I am avoiding restaurant (i.e. French fried) varieties, as these may have been cross contaminated. If I do not eat them everyday I seem to do better with them…

Thanks for your reply,

Many of us have problems with the nightshade family, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers (the veggie not the spice)and eggplant. If you get the same reaction to potatoes at home I would look into that. If the problem is only after eating in a restautant your issue is most likely the CC. I hjave a nightshade intolerance and am able to have a little bit of the family as long as it is not more than 2 days in a row.

The funnny thing is I don't seem to have a problem with the rest of the nightshade family, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant. Maybe if I eat a lot of jalepeno, or chilli pepper seeds I get a little bit stuffed up, but that is it. <_<

are you getting sick or just bloated?? potatoes contain alot of startch and will give you gas ( i have noticed this as well) i try to have a baked potato every other day, and on thoes days i have constant gas feelings ( like i can feel the gas inside me moving around) its the startch, if its not making you physicaly ill or in pain then i would say your probably not intollarent to the nightshade family, but if its making you sick i would advice maybe removing for a few days and then eating them again and see what happens

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Dear Scott,  please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1 What do you think about it?

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
